5.0 out of 5 stars Fun & Entertaining Game For All Soccer Fans..

interesting characters. If you're a real soccer fam stay away from this because they allow you to do everything that's illegal (there's no refs) a little too fast and gets boring after a while.

Sega Soccer Slam doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; they just modify it slightly enough to make it seem new. The idea of three-on-three soccer has already been covered on X-box by Midway with MLS Red Card. So, instead of using licenses from professional soccer and somewhat realistic environments, Sega features hilarious, over-the-top cartoon characters and various fictitious locales (with wonderful background animation) to please the eye. As far as the game play goes, it is not just a button-masher type game. There is some coordination involved to turn some of the trick plays but using the Training Mode easily provides the opportunity to learn them. After training, you can go to Quest Mode, Quick Start Up Mode, Tourney Mode and Exhibition Mode. All of them provide weeks on end of entertainment value. Quest mode will allow the player to unlock special items for you team's players to use within the game. Tourney Mode can unlock player from different teams. With this many different options, the replayability for Sega Soccer Slam is unlimited. Overall, it is sincerely a great, well-rounded game and fun for all ages.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Soccer Game for Those Who Do Not Like Soccer, December 9, 2003
This review is from: Sega Soccer Slam (Video Game)
When I first saw the game, I just laughed at the ridiculous cover and the weird characters. However, after Halo, I was bored with the standard first person shooter and so I opted to buy a funny looking game. To my suprise, it turned out to be a really fun game with great graphics and the gameplay is pretty fun and arcade like. In other words, a beautiful game with simplistic controls. There are lots to do with Sega Soccer Slam and there are a lot of stadiums and new characters to unlock. It will keep a person happy for quite a while with the single player mode, a good 30 hours. However, the main attraction of the game is the multiplayer mode where you play with friends. It is pretty easy to pick up the game and play, you can tell them the harder moves as you pummel them. However, after 30 minutes, we were all pros and had a blast. The game is not for everyone, if you're looking for a soccer simulation then you have the wrong game. If you're looking for an off-beat with various semi-hilarious commentary that is easy to pick up and play, well, this is the game for you. The single player warrants a buy but the multiplayer mode is the true selling point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Dads to play with their SONS!, March 28, 2003
This review is from: Sega Soccer Slam (Video Game)
Dads...buy this game and play with your sons. My 8 yr old son is into soccer and has played all the PS2 FIFA soccer games...But your kids will love this game! Excellent graphics, easy to pick up and use right away, and fun for kids and grown-ups. I bought this game without seeing any recommendations but highly recommend to others. Worth the $.

Sega Soccer Slam was the best game I played on the gamecube.

You get to pick out of 5 teams and get to beat up people.

It is fun and easy but if you want a challenge either move the difficulty up or challenge a friend.

It is a 1-4 player game.
