4.0 out of 5 stars Well... wasn't my favorite...
I was a little disappointed at the music on the CD, but that's probably because I didn't play any of the early games like Sonic Spinball or Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Some of the songs were really good like Knucklemania and The Sonic and Knuckles theme. And others were really not that good. So... if you're really short on money now, maybe pass up the offer on this one and get...

3.0 out of 5 stars For Sonic Completists
One of five releases in the now long defunct Sega Tunes series, Virtual Sonic contains some cool tracks. Named as 'enhanced' tracks from the video games, we get tunes from Sonic Spinball, Sonic and Knuckles, Sega's ill-fated Knuckles Chaotix (why was this not on the Sonic Mega Collection?) and a few of the lesser Sonic games.

By 'enhanced' they mean that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Virtual Sonic rules!, June 18, 2002

Virtual Sonic is the best CD I have ever owned! Return to the Toxic Caves is my favorite song ever, it rules! Except for the fact that Battle of the Badnicks is too long, so I'm just going to skip it most of the time, and I'll only listen to it once in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for any die-hard Sonic fan, July 17, 1999

This CD, for whatever completely unrelated songs it has on it, is definitely worth the price. I'd say about 55% of the songs on this CD are actually derived from Sonic music, but that percentage is all good! If you're a real Sonic fan, buy this CD!

Named as 'enhanced' tracks from the video games, we get tunes from Sonic Spinball, Sonic and Knuckles, Sega's ill-fated Knuckles Chaotix (why was this not on the Sonic Mega Collection?) and a few of the lesser Sonic games.

By 'enhanced' they mean that it's not music directly from the game, but given more life and wider sound by synthesizers too complicated for the original consoles.

Some of the tracks are rather uninspiring, even if fun to listen to, but others have cool sounds and makes for good 'chill-out' music. An nice companion to the rare Sonic Boom CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Virtual Sonic is a must have for Sonic fans!, July 29, 1998

Virtual Sonic is a excellent collection of music from and inspiered by the Sonic The Hedgehog video game series. The first song "Chaos Jam" has great gutair in it. KnuckleMania is the Knuckles theme played on steel drums! Battle of the Badnicks is a great example of orcastra. The Boss Opera starts of in an upbeat fashion with opera singers mid way trough. Return to the Toxic Caves is the music to the Toxic Caves in Sonic Spinball. Sonic and Knuckles theme song played by an orcastra Robotnik's Revenge is a decent song and has sound effects from the game in the background. Metal Sonic is a good song too, and is the olny song with lyrics. Sandopolis is an Egyption sounding song. The theme song to Sonic Spinball is the title screen song on orcastra. City in the Clounds is a nice relaxing song. And Sonic Triumphant polishes off the collection. The 12 track CD is about 30 minutes in lentgh. A great buy for any Sonic fan!

2.0 out of 5 stars YUK!!, April 25, 1999

This review is from: Sega Tunes: Virtual Sonic (Audio CD)
Whoa, was this ever crap! This is a cheesey American rendition and compilation collection that, quite frankly, SUX!! It's got two good tracks (return to the toxic caves and chaos jam), but as for the others, they weren't great. Infact, they're barely game related, they're mere compositions.! If you're a die-hard Sonic fan then get it by all means, but if you just like sonic (or the music) passively then don't bother!!
