5.0 out of 5 stars Eavesdropping on a master, June 7, 2000

This review is from: The Segovia Collection, Vol. 7 - Guitar Etudes (Audio CD)
If you play the classical guitar you should not be without this disc. It offers great performances of several miniature masterpieces from the repetoire. If you have progressed beyond the absolute beginner stage you will be able to play some of the pieces by Sor and Aguado.

Segovia is always sensitive, never pompous, extremely revealing and always at the service of the music.

The recording quality varies and sensitive hi-fi's will reproduce the engine noise of fishing boats on one of the tracks. But who cares? This disc is an endless pleasure and immensly instructive.

One of the great classical guitar recordings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manufacturer Mishap, March 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Segovia Collection, Vol. 7 - Guitar Etudes (Audio CD)
Excellent recording by the absolute finest virtuoso. One problem: CD lists 37 tracks, however you cannot access them individually. The CD is broken down into 7 tracks and you may have to wait, rather than just go to, the track of your choice. Very annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublimely Sumptuous Segovia, February 2, 2001

Andres Segovia had the capacity to turn the most elemental of teaching pieces into lyrical sonatas. He does that admirably with the compositions collected on this CD. It is not necessary to use a lot of words to describe the beauty of these recordings. One listen to the music is sufficient.

segovia proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will always be the standard by which other guitarists are judged.
