The best of Marlene, December 10, 2000

This cd is a combination of two albums. The Dietrich in Rio-album which is a night club act and the studio album in German. The original Dietrich in Rio album had more dialogue. The most beautiful songs on it are Look me over closely, I've grown accustomed to her face and One for my baby. There Dietrich sheds the `Lola'-image and shows what an incredible interpreter of sad songs she is. The German songs are very beautiful (if you know German, I guess). This is the grown-up Marlene. No more flirting and `look at me, I look great!'. This is an adult woman who loves and loses and suffers too. The way she sings these songs touches your heart. They touch mine. Over and over again.

Marlene singing English and German favorites, August 8, 1998

Enjoy this music from the past; you will feel as if you are in small caberet, smoke rising, glasses clinking, voices hushed and everyone having a suburb time. We have three generations in our family hooked on Marlene because of this cd!
