Seidio Multi-Function Battery Charger for Use with HTC Droid Incredible, HTC EVO 4G, Droid Eris and Touch Pro 2

I love my Sprint HTC Evo 4G. It is, in my opinion, the best smartphone made to date. However, even with all kinds of tweaking, you're going to need a second (or even third or fourth) battery because this phone begs to be used heavily.

This Seidio charger allows you to charge one battery in the phone and another in the detachable tray. You can power it with 110 VAC or from a USB port. I can't see doing the latter because it would take forever.

The unit is simplity itself a relatively small box with folding prongs. The removable battery tray I mentioned earlier. And a switch on the side for choosing between 110 VAC and USB. My unit came with a USB to microUSB cable.

Pop a battery in the tray, another in the phone and in a couple of hours or so, youhave two fully charged batteries.

The unit weighs only a few ounces and packs very nicely.

The multi-function battery charger is a pretty slick design. The battery "cartridge" tray allows (in theory) different size batteries to be charged using the base (I say in theory because I haven't looked to see if you can buy the cartridge trays separately.) The back of the charger states it outputs at 500mA and it took about 2.5 hours to fully charge a depleted 1750mAh extended battery.

The charger has a USB port and a switch that lets you either charge your phone (or any other USB device) from the base while on AC power (even while you're charging a battery), or you can charge a battery from a USB power source such as your laptop, a handy feature on a plane. Instead of a standard cable, Seidio includes a retractable USB/MicroUSB cable, a nice touch!

One nitpick: the back of the charger says "Carefully read instruction manual before use" however no instruction manual was included. It's pretty easy to figure out though :)

Overall this is a very nice charger kit and the price on Amazon makes it that much more attractive. Recommended if you carry a spare battery for your EVO (or anything else this charges).

This battery charger works exactly the way I hoped it would work for my Droid Incredible. It can charge the phone in a few hours, like other chargers, while also charging a reserve battery, unlike most other chargers. The Incredible was eating through battery life relatively rapidly and I wanted to have a second battery fully charged ready and available to replace the near to depleted one. From that point of view, this charger works beautifully. I have now traded up to a Seidio 1750mAh battery from the OEM 1300mAh battery, which came with the phone. This new larger capacity battery copes much better with the energy demands of the Incredible and so I need to use the second stand-by battery much less frequently, at this point, but it is still a nice secure feeling to know that there is always a fully charged battery waiting to be used, any time the battery in current use gives out. Also the phone retains its full functionality while being charged. That was not the case with a different el-cheapo dual battery charger that I purchased while waiting for the Seidio charger, which was on back order for a few weeks, to become available once more at Amazon. When the Incredible was plugged in to the el-cheapo charger, both batteries would charge but the phone's functions were totally blocked, which was a pain. That never happens with this Seidio charger. Well worth the price!

Just received this item and so far it looks like a great buy just like other Seidio products. Feels very solid. The plug is retractable to allow it to fit into tigher spaces. The ability to hold and charge a separate battery will be very handy for travel. As someone as said, there are no instructions, which was a little odd. But then again, it's a very simple device so that really isn't a problem. The only negative I have with it is the cable included cannot be used to connect the phone to a device for storage handling, it can only be used for charging. That's a shame, I would have spent a couple more bucks for a proper usb cable.

UPDATE: I'm changing to 3 stars. The cable this shipped with stopped working after 1 week. Now I have to bend the cable a little near the mini-usb plug to make it work. The adaptor is still good, but they should have shipped this with a better cable.

This charger works wonderfully. I purchased multiple batteries for my HTC EVO, and so I always have a spare battery charging in this charger. My batteries charge within a few hours, and I never have to worry about not having a fully charged battery for my phone. Great product. I recommend this product for anyone that owns an HTC EVO and has purchased at least one spare battery.

A lot of people seem to have noticed that the Evo 4G likes to tell you it's charged, then drop up to 10 percent or so in the first half hour.
This is because the HTC software reverts it back to battery use once the unit is "full" in it's own terms. It's own terms.
So it may "leak" some voltage until the charge circuitry resumes. It will indicate 100% regardless, to prevent general freaking out by a lot of us.
Thing is, because it does not want to overcharge, it won't take the battery to a full 4.2 volts willingly. Or correctly.
I've done some research, and a lot of people want to "trick" the battery into taking more of a charge. Sounds fun, huh?
Until HTC releases something, software wise, that will trickle charge the remaining 10% or so, we will have to deal with this.
Now I can't vouch yet for it's efficacy, but this charger should fully take the battery to 4.2v correctly. Or it has been said it will.
If you use the 3500mah they sell here, that last 10% means a lot.
If you're not squeamish about swapping a battery here and there, invest. It may actually save you in the long run by extending the life
of the batteries. It's hard to mess one up, but possible.

If you use extended batteries (especially you EVO 4G owners) you'll want a portable wall charger. Your phone will believe that your battery is charged at 100% around 1500mAH's.. in reality with a 3500mAH battery you aren't even at the halfway mark. Grab yourself a wall charge and charge your extended batteries and you will notice a great difference in battery length!

Maybe I am one of the few that received a defective one since I bought this item based on it's good reviews here. My experience however was not good. It did not charge at all. I tried trouble shooting and didn't matter where I plugged it in. The good part of this purchase is that I bought it directly from Amazon and returning it was a breeze.

I purchased this 9/23/10 and it stopped working (htc incredible) 10/24/10. Now that is ridiculous. It worked great up until I got a message on my phone stating the charger was not compatible w/the phone. This was a real bummer & I would not recommend it!

This is an amazing buy. My EVO charge jack broke so I bought this so I could use it and it does its job well.
