1.0 out of 5 stars double-edged case
I purchased this case as soon as a drop from my rubberized case broke off one of the plastic tabs that hold the case together. After careful consideration I went with the highly-regarded Seidio Innocase II, seeing all the rave 5-star reviews, and received it as scheduled. I was disappointed even before I put it on the phone. 5.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, February 22, 2010

This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Case ownership: one day

Pros:
-very thin material
-light weight
-soft padding(velvety insert?) to keep the phone from being scratched
-outside surface feels rubbery but case is some sort of hard plastic
-looks well made
-fits phone like a glove; no rattling
-easy to remove phone from case
-doesn't stick out of pockets
-initially I was worried that the grip strip on the back of the case
would stand out and look unattractive but it's hardly noticeable
-holes line up correctly

Cons:
-$$ cost(30 bucks for a cell phone case?)
-feels like i could snap this in half pretty easily out of the box when
not covering cell phone
-worried that the clip that keeps the lower half of the case attached
to upper half may wear out over multiple on-offs

Overall: So far it's the best looking case I've found that suits my taste and looks/feels like it will last me for a while. $30 bucks is kind of steep for a piece of plastic but it's better than those cheap gel cases that I've looked at. I will add some user pictures since there currently are none.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good case, but pricey., March 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
PROS---

-Great build quality. There is no play or slack. It snaps on very snugly onto the Nexus One.

-Good coverage. Covers the Nexus One well, just as expected.

-Protects the camera. I was considering a full body film protector like Invisible Shield or Skinomi but the camera bump is left unprotected and the way the camera protrudes would still get scratched up. The case nicely protects the camera.

-Felt interior. It prevents the Nexus One's back from scratching from the inside. That was a pleasant surprise!

-Slim. No description needed.

CONS---

-The soft touch texture of the case doesn't feel as good as the Nexus One's texture, and it took some time getting used to it.

-While the case does have good coverage, it surely isn't the kind of case that will fully protect the Nexus One from heavy blows. You buy this case for a good blend of looks and protection.

-Tight fit with screen protector. When used in conjunction with the Invisible Shield Screen Protector, it becomes a tight fit. If you have a screen protector on the Nexus One, make sure you let the protector fully cure, or the case will destroy the adhesive on the edges of the protector (when taking the case on and off), leaving the protector vulnerable to progressively peel.

-"1 mm thick." The case material is 1mm thick but that in turns adds 2mm to the total height, 2mm to the total width, and 2mm to the total height of the Nexus One. It doesn't sound much but it adds up when the Nexus One is in your pocket. I know there are bulkier cases (and this case is one of the slimmer ones out there), but after feeling how slim the Nexus One is, this kinda bugs me, but I'm weird.

-PRICE, PRICE PRICE. When I bought it, it was 30 bucks. While it is one of the higher quality kinds of cases, 30 dollars was kind of steep. but after scratching the bottom of the Nexus One on day two, I had to get a case. But the case now sells for less than 25 bucks (before shipping). WTH??? 25 bucks is much more reasonable. If it were 20 bucks, I would give it 5 stars.

OVERALL---

-The iPhone has its Incase, the Nexus One has its Innocase.

-This is a great case that looks good, feels good, and works well-at a price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Case, April 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This really is a great case. Don't let the price scare you away; quality usually costs money, and in this case it's well worth it. Plus, if you're like me and you just spent $[...] on the phone, what's another $25 to keep it safe?

I can repeat the comments of others, but every positive review and bullet pointed list is right on the money. Slim, great fit, not the best protection against a fall, but should help it survive anything that isn't reckless. Feels great in the hand, and recesses the camera a bit so you don't have to be quite so picky about where you set your phone down.

I love my new Nexus One, and I've been really careful about putting my phone down on rough or hard surfaces to make sure that lovely coating on the back doesn't start to scratch off. I've even been using the neoprene case that came boxed with my Nexus One as a sort of charging mat for when I plug my phone in at night, since the wooden nightstand I have has a bit of a rough surface. With this, I won't think twice about putting my phone down on any good stable surface.

It does add a minimal amount of thickness to your phone, but nothing that really bugs me. I can see where some people who are used to how extremely slim the Nexus is by itself would hate it, but I got used to it fast. It's about the same thickness as my old iPhone with my Casecrown glider case, so it's nothing I wasn't already used to and happy with. And comparing it to a Casecrown glider case is very appropriate, since they both feel and are made very similar with the felt backing and the rubberized coating that is a perfect balance between grip and glide.

Get it, because Seido made a quality case here. Also, watch the other company I already mentioned to see if they make a Nexus One case. If they do, it would probably be a lot like this but for half the price, and they also make good quality cases.

Update 05.15.2010: Going on more than a month with this case now and it still feels and looks great, and shows no sign of visible wear. Very happy customer, and thinking about getting this same case in another color (I think the gray one should do nicely).

4.0 out of 5 stars very nice case, April 1, 2010
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
While it's not as pretty as an uncovered Nexus One, it doesn't look bad, and it offers reasonable protection without adding tons of bulk to a streamlined phone. Unlike a couple of other hard cases I tried, this case is easy to remove so you can switch batteries/micro SD cards etc. The feel of the case is grippy without being tacky or sticky.

The only real drawback is that it leaves the area below the screen and around the trackball exposed, but that's not enough to ding it a star. Oh and of course the case alone still leaves the screen exposed.

The only real ding isn't about the case - it's for the price. It's just too expensive for what it is, but I don't see an alternative I like any better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seidio Phone Case, April 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I just slapped this on my phone so I can't attest to the durability just yet. Buying a phone case online is tricky so I wanted to share a couple of cool features of this case:
- the inside of the cover has a velvety surface. this means as you slide your phone in and out you dont get streaks or lines from random dust or pressure on the case. if you're using a case to keep the phone in good condition for resale, those scratches along the back don't help.
- The matte surface of the cover is close to that of the phone. It still slides easily in and out of pockets and bags as opposed to the sticky gel covers which make it hard to shove in a jeans pocket. additionally is it not super slick like one of those shiny plastic cases which make it even easier to drop your phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best case I've used, great design., May 17, 2010

Finally, a case that delivers on essential features. It's slim, light, not sticky, smooth but not slippery, durable, form fitting, unobtrusive, and it stays on.

It is the perfect mix between a slippery smooth plastic case and a sticky rubbery silicone case. It also slides on vertically to actually enclose your phone. Unlike sandwich cases, that explode and jettison your phone when dropped, this case is snug and stays on even if dropped. It's worth it, look no further for the best all around performer.

Ownership: ~1 month

PS: Don't buy their screen protector, look at Boxwave screen protector.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Nexus One case to protect my investment., April 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I purchased my Nexus One on the first day it became available. Unfortunately, it took many weeks for a decent case from a reputable Manufacturer to become available. Well, my fellow Nexus One owners, this is the case you've been waiting for.

It fits snugly, maintaining the Nexus One's sleek form factor. Additionally and most importantly, it doesn't negatively affect functionality. All of the buttons--the volume buttons on the left, power button on the top, aux port, and USB power port--are all usable, even with the case on the phone.

I'm notoriously rough on phones and the Seidio case has provided me with the peace of mind of knowing my unlocked priced phone will be protected from ME!

Buy with the confidence of knowing your phone will be safe in this case.

I received my package within the window of time quoted to me during checkout.

Well done Seidio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good case on the phone very bad case on the screen, July 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This case feels great, protects the phone from scratches and accidental drops. Fits snuggly on the Nexus One and looks sharp. The only downside that I have seen, and experienced, is that the edges of the case come in contact (pushing or under) with screen protectors and thus "lifting" or "pushing" the screen protectors. This makes the phone look as if the screen had "bubbles" and eventually, and permanently, folding the screen protector, which will eventually force you to change the screen protector.
These next lines are a revise on the review...
I have now solved the problem...in order to NOT bend or "bubble-up" the screen protector, I used a single razor blade (a hobby knife would work as well) and trim a 1 mm edge off the screen protector, now phone, screen and case look great.

1.0 out of 5 stars double-edged case, August 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The exterior texture is so silky smooth that when I slipped my N1 into the case, I nearly dropped the whole thing due to how little grip it offers. I don't personally use a screen protector (yet) but the edges definitely clear into the screen; I could almost see it ripping my screen protector off had I one. The plastic is durable, and will almost certainly protect your N1 in the event of an accident, but if you have big and/or clumsy hands, this case will ensure that you will probably drop it as many times as the case can save it. If you are paranoid, and you should be if you paid full-price for an unlocked N1, I would stray away from this case and get one that offers more bulk and grip. Style doesn't matter if you have a huge, ugly gash on your phone, and you can certainly settle for a less nerve-racking case.

Pros:
Sturdy, durable plastic will protect your N1 from drops
For a slip-on case, the cover holds quite firmly, but it may be difficult to remove due to the slipperiness of the case.
Extremely slim profile, barely adds any bulk to the already small N1

Cons:
Slippery, non-existent grip will make you drops your N1
Something no other review has mentioned as of 8/20/10 is that the case is so thin that the trackball stands almost at its entire height higher, meaning that if you happen to drop it with the trackball exposed, it is likely to be damaged.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent fit for nexus one, July 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seidio SURFACE Case for Google Nexus One - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a hard case for the nexus one. I previously had a rubber case and did not like it b/c it was difficult to quickly remove the phone from my pocket b/c of the rubber traction. The Seidio case has a very nice fit and does not add much bulk to the phone at all. There are well-placed holes for the camera lens, flash, microphone, speaker, charging/USB input, and docking site. I would give it 5 stars if the case was packaged with a screen protector.
