4.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack, July 7, 2010

This review is from: Seiken Densetsu V.2 (Audio CD)
I wouldn't call this the most consistent old-school game soundtrack, but I feel it has some of the best old game tracks out there. One flaw is that the songs do not loop; they only play once and then fade out in order to get all the tracks squeezed onto one CD ; nonetheless if you want some incredible tracks with thoughtful melodies, counterpoints, and atmosphere, this is a must-have!

This is not only one of the best games of all time, it's accompanied by one of the best soundtracks of all time. The opening track, teh city of gold, and the Dark Lich are just a few of teh great and memorable songs on this album that will have you humming the melodies for years. I would rate this better than the FFVII soundtrack but not quite as good as the FFVI and FFIV (II in america) soundtracks but, then again, how many are?

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed., January 16, 2011

I ordered this fairly last minute for a convention. It arrived quickly and in mint condition, and I even managed to get the disc signed by the original composer! It also helps that the music itself is fantastic. Thanks a bunch!

I grew up playing this game on the old SNS. It is great for those who want to relive their youth.

Great music directly from the game, if you like the music in the game you'll like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new life, October 9, 2007
This review is from: Seiken Densetsu V.2 (Audio CD)
I've owned the Secret of Mana for about 4 years. At the time, I immediately realized what an incredible soundtrack it had, and immediately wanted to own it. At the time, I unfortunately didn't have the knowledge or the motivation needed in order to find it and fully appreciate it. Now, after a couple months of picking up different instruments and playing music, I know that it has influenced me in one way or another subconsciously. I now own the Seiken Densetsu 3 ("Secret of Mana 2") soundtrack and absolutely love it. I think it is the best decision I have ever made in my life. This soundtrack is soon to be mine and it is just as good - maybe better - with only 1/3 the songs as Seiken Densetsu 3. I strongly encourage anyone with an open heart and mind to buy this soundtrack. Truly some inspirational and unique stuff here. I can't say enough good things about my man Hiroki Kikuta!

5.0 out of 5 stars The reason I love Hiroki Kikuta, March 24, 2007

This review is from: Seiken Densetsu V.2 (Audio CD)
Nine years after playing Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2), this music still calls up fond memories. Some tracks on here I can listen to for hours on end, and the melodies still give me goosebumps because they're that good. Hiroki Kikuta excels at writing music for four moods: cheerful, excited (battle), heroic, and haunting. Calm music is notably missing, but if you're not specifically looking for it, the absence goes unnoticed. Several tracks near the beginning of the OST can quickly become irritating, but the last half of the CD more than compensates for these. In particular, "Leave Time for Love" and "Meridian Dance" are both amazing.

Like all video game music, I don't recommend buying the soundtrack if you haven't played the game, but if you have, this soundtrack (like the game itself) is incredible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must-have for fans!, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Seiken Densetsu V.2 (Audio CD)
This is the original soundtrack from "Seiken Densetsu 2 aka "Secret of Mana". The sound quality is crisp and clear. Each song plays only once (doesn't loop) but with this many songs they have to to get all of them on one disc. There's 44 tracks with a total 66:20 play time. The booklet and the track listing is all in japanese but you can find the track listing in english on freedb.
