Bold Modern Design Meets Seiko Engineering, November 11, 2011
This review is from: Seiko Arctura Men's Watch SRN017 (Watch)
I have owned this watch for a week and as far as quality and functionality it is everything I would have expected from a Seiko.
I am a watch lover and collector, my all-time favorite watch up to this point has been my Seiko special edition F1 Honda racing watch. I can see this watch easily coming in at least in a tie if not surpassing the F1, only time will tell (pun intended).
The watch is SOLID. It is heavy, about the weight of a Bell and Ross steel watch but not as gawdy. You know you are wearing a watch. I love looking at the face. The layout is clean, the hands are well shaped spears of shiney metal with luminous slivers on the hour and minute hands. The background is a brushed metal grey and the SEIKO logo stands up a fraction of a millimeter to give it a 3D look. The back of the watch is glass so you can see the counterweight, I've always like seeing the guts. It's not as impressive as a skeleton automatic watch but the effect is nice.
This will be my second Kinetic watch (charges a capacitor, not a battery) from SEIKO and I look forward to years of use. My first two toned Kinetic purchased in 1998 still spins right up as soon as I give it a few shakes.
If you like a solid watch and need something to wear for all occasions then this is it.
