Not worth the price
on August 28, 2011
Wanted a simple battery-powered alarm.
It does set and turn off with one simple switch in the back, and the switch is larger than most, a good thing.
But, the alarm is very strong and jarring. So, if you have issues waking up this is a good alarm. For the rest of us, stuff foam earplug in the alarm chime speaker hole and secure it with duct tape to cut the noise.
Most key is a design flaw...the base is not flat. It's cut at an angle, so the thing falls over. Rock it with your hand, bump your night table, it falls over. Why, oh why, could it not have been flat on the bottom! The upward angle of the face does not make it easier to see, because I'm seeing it from my bed. I lay down in my bed.
Way too expensive for what it is. Seiko has bottomed out over recent years, like most all once iconic brands.
I bought, no kidding, a cheap $15 no-name brand alarm clock at Walgreen's that has a constantly lighted face (this one does not--only when you push the button on top, and knock it over because the bottom is not flat), a perfect alarm tone, and sits squarely on the flat top of the nightstand.
