I paid almost double this price at a watch repair shop! I have been looking for about 20 years for a clock which did not light up the entire room because I like my room completely dark. I was looking at basic department stores because I wanted to plug it in rather than battery operated. This is battery operated but I love it. I would put a book in front of my electric digital clocks to block the light. Press the top button on this clock and it lights up to view the time but otherwise keeps the room dark. I like its compact size too. Nice wake-up beep. I bought two others for my kids and they love it too.

This seemed like the ideal clock for me, because it has a large display of the only information I care about. But when I received it, I learned that you have to slide off the battery cover on the back every time you set the alarm, the time or the date. A ridiculous design.

This is a sleek, modern, well-made clock, EXCEPT for one thing. You must slide the battery cover off to set the time the alarm sounds (or to just set the time the clock shows, too). The battery cover is easy to slide off, but who wants to do that every time you need to change the alarm time (or the clock time, for that matter)? Also, due to the buttons being in the battery compartment, at the back of the clock, it is a bit difficult to see which button you are pushing and see the front of the clock at the same time. No big deal if you get up at the same time every day, but an inconvenience if you are frequently changing the time you want the alarm to ring. I would have given it five stars if it hadn't had this wierd design feature.

Good backlight, sturdy, good alarm. No temperature, like some similar ones, but if you don't mind that, this is a good option.

It gets the job done I guess. The drawbacks (which I should have looked into before spending $30 are that there's no volume adjustment and this would wake the dead I'm sure. Also, setting the alarm requires removing the back, setting the tiny button to alarm (versus day/month/time), then resetting the button when you're done and putting the back on again. Way too involved in today's world.

If your alarm is set to ring at the same time each day, this won't be as problematic for you. In order to change the time that the alarm is to ring you have to remove the rear panel of the clock -- not difficult to accomplish but it is an extra step. Additionally, the batteries included in the box were effective at getting the time and alarm set, however, the light did not light and the alarm could only be heard by dogs. On the instruction page I found this note under the BATTERY INSTALLATION heading: "The battery that comes with this clock when you purchase it is for factory test purposes, so the battery will not provide normal service life." I found that, after I replaced those batteries with ones I had on hand, the light began to work and the alarm sounded correctly. Why bother to include batteries that won't initiate full function of the clock? For the price, it's okay. Moving the controls for setting the alarm/time to the outside would be more convenient. It is a small size and can fit into little spots where a larger clock may not.

One must be handicapped if having a problem setting this clock. It's SO EASY and the fact that the back needs to be removed to set the alarm is a good thing because buttons are covered so that a hand fumbling around in the morning won't change the setting. The back is easy to remove (just press down and slide). This is easily the BEST clock I have ever owned. Easy to see (it only dims when the battery is low), compact, easy to turn the alarm off (just hit the large button on the top). And the alarm chirp is easy to wake up to. But what I love most about it is that there is no bright digital light shining in the room from the display like most digital clocks that light up the entire room. If I need to see what time it is at night, I just press the top button of the clock and it lights up the display. I purchased 5 of these because they are so wonderful.

I love this little alarm clock. The blue glow backlight only appears when you tap the top bar (if in the middle of the night I need to check the time). Otherwise it sits dark on the nightstand which is why I like it versus other alarm clocks with the bright glowing numbers. When traveling for work I end up covering the hotel's alarm clock with one of the extra pillows. I also like the not-obnoxious beep-beep-beep alarm since I'm a light sleeper and therefore I don't need a big alarm to wake me.

Smaller than expected, it is overall 2.5" by 3.75" the time screen is 1.5" x 1.5" and flimsy quality plastic, the back is difficult to slide off to set time/ alarm times and may break easily if too much finger pressure is applied, quite surprisingly junky for the price and Seiko brand,. I will return as I think this will crack easily packed inside of a travel bag or knocked off the bedside table. Shame, cause it has the feature I needed, NO snooze repeat, without switching alarm setting off every day. Had a clock for $8 from W-mart that was built better just quit on me after 6 years use. oh well back to search.......

I've been using this little clock for about 7 years now. I love it. I bought two of them just to make sure I could have one to use for years to come. I like it because its size is perfect, it has all the info I need, and the alarm is pleasant and snooze is easy. I can hold it easily in my hand for a couple extra snoozes, just pressing the top for a quick illuminated glance at the time and an additional 10 minutes. Its functioned flawlessly since I got it. This clock is just right!
