This is a great Metronome for running in order to keep the correct running cadence in POSE. I love that it has the clip so I don't need to hold it. You can choose the type of sound and volume of the beep. Easy to use.

I use this item to maintain cadence when training for distance running. It works well. Controls are easy to set up before running. It easily clips to a watch band, where it can be viewed and adjusted. I use it on a tread-mill to determine my cadence, where speed/pace remain constant. When running outside I use it to maintain cadence (steps/minute). An interesting finding is that running cadence remains very close to the same even though a runners pace/speed may vary. (for me cadence is 160-170 beats/steps per minute from 5 to 8.5 mph.) The beep volume is adjustable, and easy to hear. Interestingly, there is a LCD that alternately flashes on the left and right side of the display screen. This flash can be easily (and silently) seen when using a tread mill. This way the beeper does not annoy everyone in the gym. The left/right flash corresponds to foot falls. In short, it is a very good additional training aid.

I wanted a simple portable metronome which I could use to help with my running cadence. The Seiko DM50 works very well. Trivial to adjust the volume and tempo. It does everything I wanted. Have used for 1 month so far, still working great. I can even easily adjust the tempo partway through the run. The beep volumes are adjustable, from none to quiet (can just barely hear it) to quite loud. I find that leaving it on the lowest setting is just right for me, I can (barely) hear it but can also ignore it. Cannot clip it to the top/FRONT of the treadmill since its beep actually affect the HeartRate counting/display, but I clip it to the top/SIDE and it does not affect the HR counting and is still easy to hear. Not appropriate for use in a public race since it would annoy other runners. I recommend this product.

I am using this to improve my cadence/turnover in running.
Pros:
- Easy to operate
- Easily set beats per minute and volume (Tempo options too)
- Clear distinct beeps
- Not too big. (Can hold in your hand or put in your pocket.)
- Clip it to your clothes, watch or fuel belt
Cons:
- Not a lot of volume selections (No beep to loud beep, with only a few options in between)
- Not a lot of tempo selections (If that matters to you)
- No lock position (A setting could change if it is bumped)

Overall: Works well for my purpose.

Save Your Money---I just trashed my DM50 (Thank God)! While it works OK enough as a metronome, the problem is that it is very difficult to replace the battery (which quit after very light use!). The item is very poorly designed and not user friendly at all. Battery replacement involves removing the three very tiny screws of the back panel and then removing the even tinier screw of the battery cover! All this involves having the tiniest phillips screwdriver commercially available. And the really hard part was trying to put the very tiny screws back into their tiny holes and then trying to tighten them---a godawful job! To do this job properly it may may actually require having tools of the type electronics professionals use--not a job for ordinary mortals!

My question therefore is why? This item could have easily designed with much more user friendly snap on-off parts that don't require special tools and time consuming effort. So, again I say save your money and purchase a more user friendly metronome.

This item is great for runners. I use it to set my 180 turnover rate. It has adjustable volume so you can lower the somewhat annoying beep. It has variable rates, but I only use the 180. The buttons are a little sensitive. I have accidentally turned it on when throwing something into my running bag. It would be nice if it had a slide lock function. It is really light and you can conveniently clip it on your running shorts, top, or water belt. A great item at a reasonable price.

We have had this metranome for three years now and it works perfectly. My daughter uses it when she practice her violin. The beeping takes some getting used to but you can hear it over her violin which is necessary. It also has a blinking light which is helpful as well. She likes to clip her music to her music stand using this metranome. We are now purchasing a second one since our labrador retriever decided to chew it up this evening. :)

I use this to set my running cadence. For that purpose this is a very good unit. The only thing missing to make it excellent is weather resistance. 4 volume settings and 1 bpm increments of adjustment are perfect for this application. It has even survived a couple of weeks getting bounced around in the bottom of my gym bag. One other quibble is how easy it is to accidentally start it. The "on" button is easy to press accidentally while clipping this onto your shirt. Perhaps the manufacturer could have recessed the buttons slightly.
