Because this met goes down to 30 beats per minute,
it is one of the few available that can be used with slow Blues music. The size is that of a pack of cigarettes, but only about 1/4-inch thick or less. Nice & small. It will probably fit in any musical intrument case. The sound is a lower beep, not a click or tic. The sound is not objectional at all. It gets the job done well... with enough room volume to be useable in fact. It also has a earphone jack. No ear bud or earphone came with it however. The speaker may be programmed off. Or, at volume levels of low/med/high. 4-levels. It is to advantage that it has a programmable volume control. Analog physical mechanical 'spin the wheel' type controls are usually built cheap an do wear out quickly and do not last. They also get dirty and make scratchy sounds over time as well. So, this one has an ideal volume control ! IF you turn off the volume control... there will be Zero audio speaker output... however... a RED LED will fire-off to keep the beat time. It has ample brightness to be seen EZ in daytime roomlight (which is bright). The RED LED is always firing-off to the beat when the device is used, regardless of volume setting. It has NO mechanical switches or mechanical volume control to break or wear out. I like it, and the price is right for the longterm quality of the device. The battery is a single lithium CR type... which is very EZ to replace. It is suggested the battery may last through 200-hours of device useage. It has a flip-down stand on the rear of its case. Works well and doubtful it will break. Made nicely. The LCD Display is ample to be seen and read when the device is on a music stand. It displays a moving body with the beat and settings of the device. I enjoy mine. It does not come with any kind of slip-cover for a protective case.

I am a music education major studying oboe, and I have been using this metronome for almost 2 years and haven't had a problem at all. All the controls are simple, straight forward and work wonderfully. The only downside is that you need an adapter to use headphones which is a bummer, but that's not a necessity anyway. It stands up, is incredibly durable (falls off of my stand all the time, hardly a mark on it) and the batteries refuse to die. It has several rhythm settings, which are fantastic. I highly recommend this item to anyone who needs a metronome.

I love the metronome,
This review is from: Seiko DM50S Clip Digital Metronome (Silver) (Electronics)
The metronome is extremely easy to use and have enough functionalities for the need of a new piano leaner like me. The volume is adjustable, and can be turned off and show LED blinks only. I particularly like the compact design, which also function perfectly as clip for my piano books.

Great for POSE running,

This is a great Metronome for running in order to keep the correct running cadence in POSE. I love that it has the clip so I don't need to hold it. You can choose the type of sound and volume of the beep. Easy to use.

This is the best metronome I have ever owned. 30-250 beats per minute, adjustable by increments of 1's and 10's, subdivisions available, volume capability is high, battery lasts a long time. Couldn't ask for much more.
Cons: It's so easy to lose!

I am a piano teacher. This is my favorite metronome. It's small but mighty, with volume control and several rhythms including eighth and sixteenth notes, triplets, etc. I have a second one which is kept at the church where I am organist. Several students have gotten the same metronome following my demonstration/recommendation of it. Also, the price is right! This metronome is more
versatile than many more expensive ones.

Runners cadence timing,

This review is from: Seiko DM50 Compact Metronome - Blue (Electronics)
I use this item to maintain cadence when training for distance running. It works well. Controls are easy to set up before running. It easily clips to a watch band, where it can be viewed and adjusted. I use it on a tread-mill to determine my cadence, where speed/pace remain constant. When running outside I use it to maintain cadence (steps/minute). An interesting finding is that running cadence remains very close to the same even though a runners pace/speed may vary. (for me cadence is 160-170 beats/steps per minute from 5 to 8.5 mph.) The beep volume is adjustable, and easy to hear. Interestingly, there is a LCD that alternately flashes on the left and right side of the display screen. This flash can be easily (and silently) seen when using a tread mill. This way the beeper does not annoy everyone in the gym. The left/right flash corresponds to foot falls. In short, it is a very good additional training aid.

I purchased this item to help set a cadence in my golf swing, on the recommendation of a friend who had tried the method. This metronome is easy to use, very portable (even has a clip so you can clip it to your belt), and loud enough for you to hear but not so loud as to be a nuisance to others who might be close by. Additionally, it is durable and is a relatively inexpensive item that has been reliable. Using this has helped my golf swing tempo, also.

Simple portable metronome works great (for running cadence),

I wanted a simple portable metronome which I could use to help with my running cadence. The Seiko DM50 works very well. Trivial to adjust the volume and tempo. It does everything I wanted. Have used for 1 month so far, still working great. I can even easily adjust the tempo partway through the run. The beep volumes are adjustable, from none to quiet (can just barely hear it) to quite loud. I find that leaving it on the lowest setting is just right for me, I can (barely) hear it but can also ignore it. Cannot clip it to the top/FRONT of the treadmill since its beep actually affect the HeartRate counting/display, but I clip it to the top/SIDE and it does not affect the HR counting and is still easy to hear. Not appropriate for use in a public race since it would annoy other runners. I recommend this product.

Using for Running,

I am using this to improve my cadence/turnover in running.
Pros: - Easy to operate - Easily set beats per minute and volume (Tempo options too) - Clear distinct beeps - Not too big. (Can hold in your hand or put in your pocket.) - Clip it to your clothes, watch or fuel belt Cons: - Not a lot of volume selections (No beep to loud beep, with only a few options in between) - Not a lot of tempo selections (If that matters to you) - No lock position (A setting could change if it is bumped) Overall: Works well for my purpose. |
