one tough watch,

This review is from: Seiko Kinetic Divers Auto Relay Sports Men's Watch (Watch)
i've worn this watch everyday for nearly 9 years, never ever had a single hint of an issue with it. i'm a consulting geologist and travel relentlessly so i've abused it at >5000m altitude regularly, its been in deserts over 50 degrees centrigrade, and its been in subantarctic conditions, I regularly have this thing wet for hours at a time and its never skipped a beat. this watch is heavy, very heavy, and the band is rigid (it doesn't fold like other metal linked bands) and my band is still as chunky, rigid and sturdy as the day I took it out of the shiny wooden box it came in.my only criticisms are: 1. its hard to change the time and date because the adjustment knob is very smooth and hard to move when you've screwed it down to waterproof it; 2. if its hot and you sweat you sometimes end up with black staining on your wrist, which washes off no problems; i'll be trading up to an Omega Speedmaster in the next 12 months or so, only because this watch has taken such a beating that its starting to show, and after a decade of hard work its time to reward myself, but this watch will always remain my travel/adventure/sports/field work watch. If you're looking for something to go the serious distance but still be acceptable in the office and the fine restuarant, then i wouldn't hesitate on this one.

I love this watch, but I have had to replace the pins in the band 20+ times in the 4 years I've had it. It is a ridiculous pain and I am going to go ahead and just get a new watch. The jewelers I've spoken to all say that Seiko does a poor job designing their watches and that pins shouldn't bend and break in a properly fitted watch. Buyer beware...and e-bay for $200.

Great watch for a great price,

I've had this watch for about 6 years now and could not be any happier. Even though I've worn it everyday for those 6 years it still looks like new and I constantly get compliments on it. I've also never had any problems with it aside from a minor scratch on the face but that was my fault anyways. But this is def a serious watch thats very practicle and well made, buy it and you won't regret it...

I wanted a watch to last my whole life and a watch to be inherited to my future grandson (and I'm 25)... and I found this beautiful watch from SEIKO. Read about the "Auto Relay" function, it's magic! You may not use your watch for 3 days, and it'll STOP! But don't worry, if you just shake it next day or maybe 4 years later (maximum non-use time), it will automaticaly restore the actual time. The only thing that won't restore is DATE, that you have to restore manual. This watch worths every penny! |
