This clock was a Christmas present for Mom, she has always looked at the grandfather clocks with Westminster chimes however does not have the room to place a clock of this size. I was thrilled to have found this item which sounds just like a grandfather clock. All appears in order and the clock runs correctly...only problem I had was with adjusting the volume other than that...just BEAUTIFUL!!!!! My Mom was just over the moon and had to cry when she saw and heard it chime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seiko Mantel Chime Carriage, December 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seiko Mantel Chime Carriage Clock with Hand-Rubbed Finish (Watch)
I just received this clock a few days ago. I was impressed with the solid feel of the clock. It is heavier than I thought it would be and it the wood is a beautiful dark brown. It is easily the best looking mantel clock that I have and I own several, most of which cost more than this one.

The chimes are electronically produced but have a really good sound. The sound volume is adjustable. It has a choice of Westminster or Whittington chimes. They chime on the quarter hours. It has a night time shut off or you can have it chime all day.

The only disappointment was that there is no switch to turn the chimes off. You have to turn the volume down all the way in order to silence the chimes. There is also no switch to have the clock only chime on the hour instead of every quarter hour which I have seen on similar clocks.

The movement in this clock is very quiet. I can't hear it ticking even when I am a few feet away from it. It also seems to be very accurate. In the few days that I have had it, it hasn't varied even a second yet. All in all, this clock is well worth the price. I highly recommend it.
