I could not be happier with this watch, build quality is as you would expect from Seiko and it looks fantastic too. A very elegant design and not too bulky as so many watches are these days. Really like the Black and Silver combination, usually black is combined with Gold which I think looks tacky but this on the other hand is stylish. Price was also excellent. So overall I could not be happier with this purchase!

This is a very nice watch and I agree with the positive comments noted by the other reviewers. The one negative I didn't see mentioned was the wrist band. I have been wearing the watch less than two months and it is beginning to show wear marks on the bottom of the wrist band where my hand and wrist rest on a desk or table. Since I work in front of a computer, the bottom of the wrist band will make frequent contact with the desk. The wear marks are not that noticeable now, but I suspect it will become noticeable later. People looking at your watch probably won't notice since it's on the under side. However, if you think this may bother you, you may want to go for the stainless steel band. However, in my opinion, this is still a much nicer looking watch and I don't regret my purchase, even with the wear marks.

    1/18/13 Update
I posted a photo of the wear marks after wearing the watch for about one year. Although they are noticeable in the photo, anyone looking at the watch would have to look very closely to notice them since they are on the under side of the wrist band.

This is one handsome timepiece. It isn't actually black, but rather more like a dark gunmetal color. I actually prefer the color, and the stainless accents on the case, bezel, face and bracelet really give the watch a strikingly elegant appearance. It even has a black enameled crown tip - beautiful touch!

The gunmetal finish is very glossy and looks dressier than most of the black watches I have seen. The border around the two main sub-dials is machined in a way that give them almost a holographic glow.

It is, quite simply, very heavy - the mark of solid, quality materials. I don't have a small accurate scale, but I would guess that it weighs close to one pound. Very substantial!

I haven't even worn it yet - I have somewhat small wrists, so I'm waiting to do so until I have a couple of links removed from the bracelet. I'll take care of that this weekend, because I'm anxious to wear it.

    I couldn't be more pleased!!

    FAST FORWARD to 2013:
Three links removed from the bracelet, and it fit perfectly. However, after wearing this beautiful watch for a year, it was stolen from my home two days before Christmas, along with about eight thousand dollars worth of fine gold and diamonds. Theiving SOB's!!

I will probably replace this piece with an identical one - not just because I love it, but also because such a wonderful woman gave it to me.

But, one caveat to potential buyers - the gunmetal finish does scratch and wear over time. Nonetheless, if one takes reasonable care, this watch will look beautiful for years.

The watch is nice. It's heavy, but I had expected that. It seems to work well, I bought it on leave so I would have a dress watch to wear around since all my others are in storage. It is a striking watch, and is probably more gray then black, but the two tones accent each other very well in my opinion. No problems with it in the 15 days I had it before coming back to Afghanistan. I banged it up a bit while I was enjoying the States and it didn't get a scratch. I see that the face is Hardlex, something exclusive to Seiko, and it must be good at protecting scratches because I accidentally hit the face hard and I couldn't tell afterward. I am interested in how well it will keep time, I will check it when I get back in 4 months and then I will know. It is japanese quartz, I don't really know the difference from other watch grade quartz, but it is almost certainly better than an automatic. Overall I loved it, and I can't wait to get back and wear it again.

Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised at how shiny this watch is. It is not gaudy glittery, but just polished and elegant, but with simply lines and touches that make it casually so. You can wear this every day without it looking out of place at work with a button up and slacks. But, because it does have the almost black, more like gunmetal, with silver accents, it is classy enough to wear with a tie or even with a tuxedo. So as far as looks this watch delivers more than pictures can say.

Now the feel. After taking a few links out simply using a paperclip, the watch fits nicely and is a little heavy, but I will get used to it. I don't usually wear a watch, but I could wear this every day because it doesn't pinch my skin or yank my arm hair.

Functionally, it was easy enough to set the time and date. I am still a little confused about the alarm, as the arms move along with the regular time. But I am sure with some practice, I might be able to use it on occasion. One small thing I like is that the second hand is on the small face near the nine o'clock side. Which means it's easier to track the time using the hour and the minute, and if I need to know seconds I can glance at it quickly and easily. It kind of helps to keep the timekeeping from getting cluttered. The stop watch uses the larger second hand along with the noon placed small face that tracks minutes. Apparently you can keep track of laps using it. Again, I will have to practice with the manual, but at least the function is there.

I am very happy with the overall product, and for the price for a Seiko quality product, I don't think you can go wrong.
