STYLISH & PRACTICAL BUT WEAK BRACELET,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This watch is substantial, but thanks to the titanium case and band, you can forget it's on your wrist. It's a great combination of brushed gray, gold accents, charcoal face with white and gold dial. Simple, handsome, a good blend of everyday and dressy, and color to go with about anything. Did I mention it keeps great time?
UPDATE: WITHIN A YEAR, WITH VERY SPORADIC USAGE, I HAVE HAD TWO BRACELETS BREAK, AND THEY ARE ABOUT $70 TO REPLACE. NOT A SATISFACTORY RECORD FOR A SEIKO. I WOULD LOWER THE OVERALL SCORE IF THE EDITING PROCESS PERMITTED IT.

Great Watch Plagued By Fragile Clasp,
By
This review is from: Seiko Men's SGEB34 Dress Two-Tone Watch (Watch)
As you can see, this is a great-looking watch. It is very comfortable and light weight. However, the clasp is fragile and woefully inadequate. After owning the watch for only year with no hard use, the clasp broke. Paid nearly $30 (US) for replacement. Within 6 months of use (being very careful to avoid recurrent breakage), it broke again. Would expect far better for a $375 retail titanium watch (or anything from Seiko).
Only other complaint is that date function is inconvenient to adjust for each month that contains fewer than 31 days (and make sure you don't go a day too far or you have to spin forward through 30 days!). A very attractive watch that generally works well, but with an expensive weak link!

Beautiful watch. Unbelievably light. I always take it off to let people hold it to see how light it truly is. Would recommend it to those who normally dont wear watches due to not liking the feel.

I made the mistake of buying this watch in spite of the other review about the weak bracelet. Big mistake. I've had it six weeks and today the band broke. Now I need to send it to New Jersey for repair! Ridiculous for a supposed $400 watch. Should have gone with the Citizen which I almost bought but I liked the looks and light weight of this watch better. Darn.

Very well made, seemly durable watch,

Nicely constructed, attractive watch. I've had mine a year now with practically no signs of visible wear. Watch has stood up to outside wear at odd times for pruning etc & indoor DIY. Date not as visible as I had hoped - for one with indifferent eyesight (of course, hardly any watches are, unfortunately). Overall I am well satisfied with this particular watch.

I love everything about this watch except that the band is literally the weak link. It broke weeks after buying it. Look for another watch with a strong band.

The watch is great and not a knock off. It functioned well for 11 months and then the strap broke. I sent it in for repair, it did take 6 six weeks but it did get repaired. They replaced the clip with stainless steel instead of titanium. Still it was fixed and has been working well ever since. I would buy fom them again.

We thought this watch would be a nice titanium color (charcoal grey) with gold highlights. It is not as appears from the photo. The watch is just a standard silver/gold. Nice watch, but not the color we wanted. We returned it so can't comment on its working quality.

I purchased this watch for $135 at Macy's during a great sale on 10/16/08, and just today 3/26/09 the clasp began sticking and I wasn't able to take it off. I had to remove the spring-loaded pin to take it off. Luckily I bought the 2 year service plan from Macy's and they are supposed to have it back to me in 2 weeks fixed.
Other than that, the watch works very well, is very lightweight, and looks very classy. I've gotten many compliments on it and I'm not afraid to wear it around every day. It does get some scratching on the brushed-metal along the inner wrist where it moves along the table when I use my mouse for example. This annoyed me for a little while but then it got to a point where no more new scratches were noticeable and I realized it wasn't too bad. If you're worried about this, then I'd say just wear it as a dress watch, but I would probably invest more money in something like a dress watch. |
