This watch is a very attractive timepiece. Hefty in weight and size, the watch will exude a commanding presence from your wrist. 1.0 out of 5 stars Seiko Men's Flight Alarm Chronograph Watch
Too fragile - stem comes out too easily causing time & date issues - stop watch second hand moves when it's supposed to be off if I shake my wrist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, December 28, 2006
This review is from: Seiko Men's SNA414 Flight Alarm Chronograph Watch (Watch)
This watch is a very attractive timepiece. Hefty in weight and size, the watch will exude a commanding presence from your wrist. The flight computing features deriving from its rotary slide rule allow for calculations ranging from multiplication, division, and square root to navigational computations of time, speed, distance, and much more. A manual stopwatch and alarm function, the latter of which may be used as an alternate timekeeper for a different time zone, each work to make this watch all the more alluring. On a side note, the watch was in-stock and shipped promptly. Aside from auctions at Ebay, perhaps, the current (12/06) $225 price is also the lowest available for this amazing Seiko! Recommended!

I have been in love with aero chronograph watches for most of my life. I bought the first one when I was 15. My ideal time-piece has been the Breitling Cosmonaute, but the $4000+ price is an absurbity that offends my sensibilites. This series of Chronographs from Seiko (SNA411, 413 & 414) are the most exciting watches I've seen in years. The photos don't do it justice. Fit and finish are impeccable. I may buy another one to put aside for the future. I can't look at this watch without grinning. It may even satisfy my Breitling-lust!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT WATCH, February 17, 2008
This review is from: Seiko Men's SNA414 Flight Alarm Chronograph Watch (Watch)
THIS IS SEIKOS BEST WATCH, FAR BETTER MADE THAN SEVERAL OF THEIR MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS, I OWN SEVERAL DIFFERENT WATCHES, THIS IS THE BEST. IT APPROACHES MY ROLEX IN FEEL AND LOOKS GREAT. ITS ALSO PRICED SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE IN THE LOCAL DEPT STORES IF YOU CAN FIND ONE. IT IS EASY TO READ THE DIAL IN LOW LIGHT, I RETURNED A WHITE FACED SEIKO OF THE SAME MODEL BECAUSE OF POOR CONTRAST. I RATE THIS AS A FINE WATCH WITHOUT THE HIGH PRICE.

This Seiko is a real manly, macho & beautifully presented watch that I can show off every day & I have not had it off my wrist since I received it. The local Jeweller had never seen one and told me to insure it for $800.00. I was Rapt!! The guys at work have repeatedly asked me where I got it but I am selfish and don't want to see it around too much. It is fantastic, beautiful and unless I get my left arm cut off, it will never leave me. Thanks Amazon & Seiko.

Like most gold watches, a bit blingy - but 30" with a scotchbrite pad removed the worst of it from the bracelet. Amazing attention to detail - you need a magnifying glass to see it all, beautifully crisp. In the shade, the subdials blend into the background, making the main hands easy to read at a glance. In direct light, the gold on the subdials reflects, and gives excellent contrast. I like the way the hands on the subdials extend beyond the center - it makes them easier to read with 50 yr old eyes.

I used a previous version (an SEH010) years ago when flying to do time distance calculations. Nowadays, everyone has a digital computer to do it for them - but these watches are a fond memory for aging fliers like myself.

The crystal curves above the rim, so it probably will be easy to scratch. The locking pushbuttons are a bit silly - no one should use this for diving - but they work fine. It has solid endlinks, so no rattling of a loose bracelet. The bracelet stays 21mm wide, and has thick links, giving good balance on the wrist.

Not for everyone, but I love it. I can even read the stopwatch part while running, although I would prefer a 30 min subdial to a 60 min one...oh well. Still, a great watch at an amazing price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive watch, July 14, 2008

This review is from: Seiko Men's SNA414 Flight Alarm Chronograph Watch (Watch)
The Seiko Flight Alarm is all it was advertised to be. It has a quality look and feel, is impressive to look at, and gets compliments. I have no clue how to use the information on the outer rings, and my eyes would not allow me to if I did, but I did not buy it for those features. The watch works as it should, and the hands are easy to read day or night. The only negative is a marginal owner's manual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Year two and still going strong..., February 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seiko Men's SNA414 Flight Alarm Chronograph Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch for myself almost two years ago now and it is still one of my favorites (in fact, I wore it today and already received a compliment from one of my co-workers).

I bought this watch for basically two reasons... "looks" and the Seiko reputation. I'm as still as satisfied with the watch today as the day I purchased it. This watch is definitely a "Mans Watch". It is large and VERY gold (much more so than I originally thought). Sometimes it is more "bling" than I want and opt for something a little less obtrusive and "less" gold! Accuracy is phenomenal, in almost two years it has lost less than 1 minute!

Only negative would be the size. If you are a small person or have small wrists, this watch would be "too" large. Overall VERY satisfied and happy with the purchase

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch, bad alarm, poor warranty, October 4, 2010
This review is from: Seiko Men's SNA414 Flight Alarm Chronograph Watch (Watch)
Heavy, well made and very attractive watch. Alarm failed after two and half years, and was sent to Seiko under warranty. However, Seiko determined that the problem was with the case (which is NOT covered by warranty) rather than the movement, which is, and wanted $169 for the new case. Since the watch is still functional and water resistant I declined.
I only use the alarm as a second time zone watch, and it can still be set for that purpose, so the watch is still usable.
