This is the first Seiko I have purchased and was very impressed. Great quality and a comfortable leather band. I did return the watch however as I simply thought the diameter of the face and width of the band were smaller than my liking. I'm an average sized guy 6'0" 175 lbs and wasn't looking for a big bulky watch at all but this one just wasn't big enough (its listed at 40 cm face diameter and my preference is probably closer to 45). Again the style and craftsmanship of the watch is great, which is why I gave it 5 stars, just not the right size for me. I hope this helps. Cheers.

    UPDATE 1.5 Years Later:
Wonderful watch still! I haven't been very careful with it at all, banging my wrist on walls and doors, but the face of the crystal is still flawless. The metal housing has lost some of its luster, but only if you're holding it 6" away could you be able to tell; still shines like day 1 from 12" and beyond. All scratches and scuffs on the metal don't show up unless under VERY direct/bright light and, again, 6" away from your eyes. The ONLY complaint that has emerged thus far is the leather strap on the buckle side has developed a large crack across the band. I kind of figured the band would go after 24/7 wear for a year and a half, the great thing is the crack is on the underside of the band so it's imperceptible as of yet, and the crack closes when the band is contoured to my wrist. When the strap finally does go, I've already picked up a replacement from Crown & Buckle during one of their sales (probably higher quality). This is truly a buy it for life purchase!

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This is my first "real" watch, since I stopped wearing watches all through college and have just recently graduated. I decided it was a fashionable and sleek piece of style that would add to my "look", and boy was I right in choosing this timepiece to serve that purpose. It's got both hard and soft edges in the perfectly correct lines/faces, and is very well complemented by assorted reflective decor on the face that adds just the right amount of flash; not sparkly like a female watch, but yet still draws the eye with their luminescence. Overall I would say this watch diameter is perfect for me; I have a 6.5in wrist and a 5'9" 150lb frame.

I must say that I am dazzled by this item. It is really much more masculine looking and attractive out of the box. The activators are easy to use and very accurate. I have been a Seikoaholic for over 40 years and no question that Seiko hit another one out of the park. It is easy to determine that even the leather strap is of high quality and very comfortable to wear. As is typical of Amazon.com, the price is more than reasonable, along with free shipping. I received the watch two days prior to the estimated delivery date.

I must say this in regards to Amazon.com. This was truly a very enjoyable shopping experience. Their customer service should be available as an ideal model for other companies to follow. I have never known such courtesy, prompt and very efficient service. No question they have earned my business in the very near future. To conclude my comment on Amazon.com, "Most Impressive". Thank you Amazon. com.

    Thank you Seiko.
    Thank you for reading.

I bought this watch for myself last April (2011) to replace a metal strap chronograph that I had been using for quite a few years. I wanted something that I could wear daily at work as well as well as when I am just for casual occasions. My reasons for going for this watch was its simple elegance, classic style and the simplicity of the dial.

As much as I love chronographs, I hate to have something the size of a NASA space station on my wrist! Quality of all material used is great making sure there is no scope for any "cheap" look anywhere. The glass is set perfectly and the edges don't rise, like they do on many of the so-called "high-end" watches.

I must admit that it has been almost a year now and I am thoroughly satisfied with the purchase. It is exactly what I thought it would be and I have already received quite a few compliments for it. The pattern on the leather is quite classy and while the metal has a shine to it, again, it all combines to form a formal-yet-any-occasion watch.

    Definitely a great buy!

This is a pretty nice watch for the price here on Amazon. A couple of things I noticed: the crystal is slightly higher than the case (might be more prone to scratching); the numbers are painted on the face (not metallic); the upper and lower chrono dials have metal edging, but the one at the 9 o'clock position does not; the Seiko logo is elevated from the face and appears to be metallic; the date indicator is small for this watch and is not easy to read; the case is highly polished all the way around and it does not have a screw-down crown. Also, as others have noted, the band is a bit thin and inexpensive looking although it is real leather. In the end, I wasn't quite impressed enough with it to keep it.
