Product Description

The Seiko Men's 5 Automatic Silver Dial Stainless Steel Watch boasts high-tech Japanese automatic movement hidden behind classic analog styling. Precise 21-jewel Japanese automatic movement keeps this watch functioning without a battery: It is powered automatically with the movement of your arm. This high-tech feature is tucked away behind the watch's silver-toned dial, which boasts luminous silver-toned hands and baton hour markers. The dial also sports a date window at the three o'clock position, and the entire dial is protected by a mineral crystal. Keeping all of this securely on your wrist is a polished stainless steel link bracelet that closes with a fold-over double push-button safety clasp. Other features include a stainless steel case and water-resistance to 99 feet (30 meters).

I bought this watch because I didn't want the hassle of going to a jewelry store every time a battery dies. No need for any batteries and the automatic function has worked well. The hands and the hours illuminate in the dark for atleast good 7 hours. Smart looking watch with a classic feel without being flashy. The second hand has an almost continuous sweep (four clicks for each second).

I received this watch roughly a month ago. I am nothing short of ecstatic regarding how it functions, because it keeps perfect time as far as I can tell. However, the only reason why I give this watch a 4-star rating is because the picture is misleading. I was surprised and a bit disappointed to see when I opened it that the face of the watch is covered in roughly twenty "5" (because of the Seiko 5 logo) logos all over the face in a grid-like fashion, and it glints as you tilt the watch in the light. Had I known this before I bought it I probably wouldn't have gotten it, and gone with a watch that I knew had a plain face. That said, I still wear the watch on a regular basis and I do enjoy it. I would indeed recommend this to anyone else that does like the patterns on the face, however be careful if you want a plain face.

Had this watch about a week now and I absolutely love it. Its quite shiny, and the normal seiko quality all around. The showcase back on it is always fun to show off to people. Beware if you have long arm hair like I do, it sometimes gets caught in the metal band. I will buy this watch again when this one stops or I scuff the front up too much.

Seiko probably has the best automatic movement outside of Switzerland. However a Swiss watch cannot be had with an automatic movement for the value of this watch or even close.

The watch looks better in person than the picture lets on. It will lose time if not worn every day but that is too be expected of an automatic watch. When being worn daily it keeps accurate time and is easy to read at a glance. The face is not too big and the watch is lighter than I was expecting.

I would say the only things I don't like about the watch are as with all but Skagen mesh metal bands, the band does occasionally pulls arm hair. The other thing is small as well, I think the Seiko 5 logo looks like the superman symbol.

There is no better automatic watch found at this price. But some reviewers have mentioned a couple things about the watch and I thought I might expand.

The watch can be adjusted by removing links. All you need is a small paperclip and maybe some needlenose pliers or good tweezers. If you look closely at the links, the removable links are clearly marked. It's a little tricky but it takes 10 minutes to fit the watch to your wrist.

The face of the watch does indeed have very small "5" logos on it but they are only noticeable if you are looking for them and you have to turn the watch and catch the light just right to make them out. Normally you will see a somewhat matte silver finish with a slight starburst effect.

The lume on the watch is very bright when you charge it with a flashlight but fades pretty quickly. I can usually read the watch for a couple of hours before it fades completely.

Compared to an Orange Monster, this is a smallish watch and pretty lightweight. When I first put it on I wasn't sure I liked the smaller size but I've warmed up to it and after a week or two it seems about the perfect size. If you are looking for a huge watch, this isn't it. It's a basic understated watch that looks a lot more expensive than it is.

Some reviewers have mentioned the accuracy of the watch. It's an automatic watch for under $100. It will never be as accurate as an atomic g-shock or even a regular g-shock. If you want accuracy, skip the automatics altogether. You can spend $2000 on a swiss chronometer auto and it STILL may not be as accurate as some $20 digitals. But, I've worn it for about a month now and I would say this watch is off less than a minute every two weeks. I can live with that.

This is the best looking silver with white radial face watch I've ever seen that doesn't cost a fortune. My Skagen is my everyday use watch whereas I wear this Seiko when hitting the town.

It looks very good in the picture and although I was a bit skeptical I went ahead and ordered this knowing that If I was not quite satisfied I could return it. Boy I was so wrong. When I opened the packaging I was amazed on how it looks in person, I own a Rolex Milgauss and as far as the finish and appearance is concerned they are almost identical. I am sure the internals would not be comparable but for $70 vs. $7800 I would hope so.

Overall I will be wearing this watch as my "daily" because I like the weight and how comfortable it feels on my wrist. As far the hair pinch I have not experienced that with any of my metal clasp watches, perhaps I am just not that hairy..

My previous watch was a Seiko so I am kind of sold on the product line. Love this new watch. It has a very classy style as well as a substantive feel to it - a bit of weigh - doesn't feel cheap. Love the clear back - nice conversation piece. Although this is my first, the self-winding technology seems to work extremely well. Nice illumination of the dial at night. Certainly would recommend the watch for a business casual look all the way to dressing up for a night out.
