I received this watch on December 1st. It was delivered in a timely manner and in perfect condition.

I owned a Seiko day - date automatic from September 1977 until December 1999. In all the time I had this watch, I never bought it to a jewelry store for maintenance. I loved that watch and when I saw that the Seiko 5 series came out with essentially the same features as my old Seiko, I was thrilled.

This watch keeps excellent time for an automatic (it gains about 3 seconds per day) and it looks great on the wrist. The size is excellent, not at all cumbersome.

I wear this watch in the evenings after work and on weekends. It generally does not need to be rewound if it is worn in this manner. As a precaution, I usually shake my wrist for about 30 seconds every time I put it on and take it off and also before bed. I have not had to reset the watch since I started doing this.

All in all, a great value for the money (I paid $75 for the watch). Since the watch does not have any batteries to change, I anticipate not having to do any maintenance at all on the watch. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sharp looking timepiece at a very reasonable price.

I love this watch. The design is understated, it boasts a day and date display, and you don't have to wind it. This automatic/self-winding watch is a workhorse. The Seiko 5 mechanism is a proven design that can last for decades. My father once bought my mom a woman's Seiko 5 that still works--40 years later! I kid you not. If you treat this watch well, it will last you a lifetime. Be sure to take yours to a watch technician for an initial speed correction and the occasional cleaning. You won't regret it. Plus, the old-school automatic/self-winding aspect of the Seiko 5 makes it about as "green" of a watch as you can find. Besides, you're less likely to get rolled for this watch than for a Rolex. Play it safe, play it smart, keep it green, and buy yourself this watch.

I am not sure what other posters were expecting when they ordered this watch, however I can vouch for the fact that if you know anything about Seiko watches you will be more than pleased with this one. This is the preferred watch brand of my family as they have been around a long time, they're not too terribly expensive, and they work. I bought this particular one for my boyfriend for our anniversary. First off, mechanical watches tend to lose track of time by about two minutes a week, especially if they're not worn very often or not enough. Second of all, mechanical watches, because of the nature of the watch, will need servicing from time to time to make sure that they're still keeping time accurately (no pun intended). The hands on the watch, if given enough light and charge, are reflective. The dials are not, however this is pretty typical of Seiko watches. This watch is the EXACT same watch we saw in the department store so If you've been looking at them in Macy's or something you can feel good about purchasing it. A beautiful piece, navy but almost black it's so dark so will go with anything, date setting is bilingual (Spanish or English) & product overall is very Seiko.

The watch works very nicely and is reasonably accurate. I wear it always but occasionally take it off for periods of several hours and it does not run down and stop. You can see a small lever inside the glass watch case back where you can adjust the speed of the watch (although you need a case wrench to remove the watch back). No more batteries to buy. The luminous dial appears sharp at night when my eyes have adjusted to the dark. I would give it 5 stars except the band tears the hair out of your wrist which is irritating. I purchased a steel wrist band with solid links off of ebay for less than $8 (from China) and put it on the watch. Problem solved. An 18mm rounded end standard stainless steel watch bracelet fits the watch. I suppose you could also try an 18mm leather watch band as well but in my experience, leather bands do not last as long as steel.

So far I have no complaints. It's a decent watch and the price was less than 1/3 the price of any local retailers. My only concern is that it only has basic water resistance (it can survive accidental splashes but not submersion). I'm not sure how it will be affected in the future by sweat and humidity, only time will tell. Actually, I suppose I have a minor second concern, in the watch description it says 'Japanese movement' but on the back of the watch it says 'Movement Malaysia', everything else seems legit, so if it is a knockoff it's a very good one. So far I am happy with the watch, and even more happy with the price.

It's been a very long time since I have had an automatic mechanical watch, many, many years in fact. So after the first few days when the watch had stopped overnight, I realized that I had to give it some help to run through the night by "winding" it up by moving in a circular motion just before bed. I'm one of those people who don't wear a watch on my wrist through the night, and if that's you then you may have to do the same - or buy an automatic watch winder so that it does it for you through the night.
I love the watch, it's simple and tells me everything I need to know, and at the same time looks very stylish. I did have to research how to remove links for it to fit on my wrist, but a quick Youtube search soon yielded plenty of advice videos on how to do this without paying to have it done at the jewellers. No special tools required either. Overall highly satisfied with watch and highly recommend it.
