I am really impressed with the accuracy of this watch. It gains less than 3 seconds every 24 hrs, out of the box without any adjustment. This is very good result for inexpensive mechanical watch, since only high-end models have accuracy of about 1-2 sec. per 24 hrs.

This watch is not very large by today's standards, but above average thickness and clear design gives it serious look. I have replaced the original bracelet with high quality black leather strap (the size is 18 mm), In my opinion the strap is much more comfortable and makes the appearance more "vintage".

Hands and numbers illumination lasts for few hours but not all the night. The watch's back is transparent so you can see the beautiful movement.

There is a lot good user's opinions on the net about Seiko 5's series reliability., This series is a solid workhorse rather than simply budget design.

The only drawback is that water resistance level is very basic - only 30 meters.

In short: at t he price of mass-market ordinary quarts watch you can get beautifully engineered mechanical automatic which will serve you for years.

I got the watch for Christmas. I had a Seiko 5 maybe 20+ years ago, lost it in an airport. This watch keeps good time, gains about 5-6 seconds/day which is not bad for a mechanical watch. I found that if you shake it for about 2 minutes (as in winding it up) it will gain about 5 seconds. Three things about the watch I don't like: you can't hand-wind and it does not have a hack function, but all Seiko 5's are built that way. Then there's the bracelet. I replaced the metal bracelet with a more comfortable leather band.

Overall I like the watch, and you can't beat the price.

got the watch 6 months ago, ran one second fast a day and still does today. simply amazing. one problem with the watch is the very cheap band. i changed the band within the first 5 seconds of owning the watch to a leather one.
