Product Description

From the master craftsmen at Seiko, the Seiko Men's SNKK71 Seiko 5 Automatic Black Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch is a cutting-edge timepiece with a masculine appeal. Featuring a black analog dial and a silver stainless steel band, this watch is packed with style and would be a great addition to your watch collection.

This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries; instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. When not in use, automatic watches may be kept charged with an automatic watch winder – a watch storage unit which may be purchased separately.

The first quartz wristwatch – changed the history of time.

The first Kinetic – marked a new era in quartz watch technology.

In 1969, Seiko Astron, the first quartz wristwatch - was introduced.

In an instant, Seiko exponentially improved the accuracy of wristwatches –And Seiko technology firmly established today’s standard in Olympic and sports timing.

1984, another celebrated first – Kinetic Technology – powered by body movement.

Kinetic – a quartz mechanism with unparalleled accuracy –the driving force behind more world’s firsts.

Kinetic Chronograph – the next generation of high performance timekeeping.

Kinetic Auto Relay – automatically resets to the correct time.

Kinetic Perpetual - combining the date perfect technology of perpetual calendar with the genius of Kinetic Auto Relay.

And now Kinetic Direct Drive – move, and the watch is powered automatically. Or hand wind it and see the power you are generating in real time.

In the realm of fine watches, time is measured by Seiko innovation – A heritage of dedication to the art and science of time.

Time for this one to hit the trash bin.

I wanted to buy a low priced automatic, you know, a watch that I wouldnot have to buy batteries for all the time.

This was for my son's 20th birthday. My first good watch was a Seiko I bought myself for my 20th birthday in the base PX in Kirch Goens, Germany. It lasted for well over 10 years. I still have the watch but no longer wear it. After I got out of the service I went to watch repair school and then spent 20 years in the business, so I'm picky about watches and I know what I'm talking about.

    Things to know:
First, it is a mechanical watch and will never keep time like a quartz watch. So what? Will a few minutes a month end your world?
Second, it has a stainless steel case that will still be around in 50 years (long after the watch is no longer repairable). The band is decent quality but not what you got from Seiko in the 60's and 70's.
Third, ALL watches require regular maintenance, no matter what brand or type of movement. Remember, it is mechanical, like a car. Is the only money you spend on your car for gas?
Fourth, this is a self-winding watch and needs to be worn all the time. It must also fit your wrist properly: Snug fit allows an automatic watch to wind itself. A loose fit defeats the auto-wind mechanism and the watch will NEVER run right. This is a watch, not a fashion accessory to be worn as a floppy bracelet. You want that? Buy a quartz watch.

The reason most watches stop working is that the lubricants begin to break down, so they need to be cleaned. That means stripping out the old lube that has turned to shellac and re-lubing and adjusting the timekeeping. As the watch ages, a certain amount of wear will occur on the pivots of the wheels, which decreases the quality of operation. In other words, it won't keep time as well as when it was new. Also, gaskets break down and need to be replaced to maintain water resistance.

This is one of the best values in men's watches. The quality of this mechanical movement is very good and looks and works great. It keeps very accurate time and you never need batteries since it automatically winds itself when you wear it. The clasp is easy to size and easy to open and close. It is also very easy to see the time because of the contrast between the hands and the watch face. This is a great every day watch. You can't go wrong with this one.

This is a great looking watch and it keeps good time. It's a real conversation piece, most of the younger generation never saw a mechanical movement. It's really kool to take it off and show them the view from the back of the watch. It took a little work to get the band adjusted but it can be done without all the fanfare (and a little native intelligence) Only complaint is that if you don't wear it everyday it stops, but gosh I knew that. Classy timepiece for a ridiculously low price.

well this seiko showed up early and well packed with out a scratch on it. had all the right paper work with it and the warranty card. thank the shipping it came out all ready ticking. did not have to shake it up or wear it to set it. i really like the watch its simple but classy. goes with a lot of things can be dressed up or down easily. if your a guy that owns only a watch or two at a time this is a great choice works for jeans and still looks dressy enough to wear with a suit if you needed. it keeps very good time for an automatic i have noticed no gain or loss yet in three days. im sure it has gained or lost a second but not enough to ever make a problem. the face is nice and simple and the luminous marks last pretty long for a less expensive piece. i find my self wanting to wear this watch even around the house. good price, and good quality. even the snotty watch folks will admit seiko makes a good watch for the money.
UPDATE: this watch is still working flawlessly and has become one of my favorites to wear. it gets compliments often. i didnt think it would since its not real flashy. the crystal is very tough a few times ive banged it and expected to see scars but none. i love the weight of this watch its hot in texas and a big heavy watch just makes your wrist nasty. id buy this one ten times over. im going to look at the same in watch in other colors.

Got this when it was on sale. Pretty slick deal. Also be aware that this is made in Malaysia not in Japan

I have owned Seiko watches for the past 40 years and have have good luck with them all. Usually I get around 10 years before the works wear out. This watch, however, has not kept the correct time since I bought it in March of last year. It gains about 10 minutes a week - never had this problem before. I have had this watch for about 13 months now and this weekend it has started to lose an hour out of every three hours. Time for this one to hit the trash bin. I thought I saw where somebody else had the same problem as I did on Seiko's with the Malaysia movements, but took a chance anyway, as I said I like Seiko's. This watch apparently has some problems that need to be addressed by the manufacturer.

A very elegant and classy looking watch. Like the clear back so the internal workings can be viewed. The continuous second hand movement is also nice.

I'm wearing it every day for a half year but no scrathces on glass and band.
Only small set of scratches at clasp, but it's normal because clasp is contacting with table very often.
Luminous arrows are very dim even in very dark places, but it's not key feature of this watches.
