This ultra-modern men’s kinetic watch has sleek styling and advanced technological features. Like all Seiko kinetic watches, it is powered by human movement. Instead of relying on a battery, it draws energy from the natural movement of your wrist. It has a five-month power reserve capacitor, so that even if you leave it on the shelf for six months, it will continue to keep accurate time. It has both an overcharge prevention function and an energy depletion forewarning function.

This watch’s round black dial features a prominent stopwatch. The stopwatch second hand circles the main dial, measuring 1/5-second increments. The stopwatch minute hand measures up to 45 minutes. Both hands are red and stand out against the black dial. If you simply want to know what time it is, you’ll find that displayed on two smaller sub-dials. This watch also features a date window at the 4:30 position. Other features of this watch include a sapphire crystal and a screw-down caseback. The watch has a polished stainless steel bezel with engraved numbers at five-minute intervals. Its case and bracelet-style band are crafted from brushed stainless steel with polished steel accents. The band fastens with a push-button release clasp. Water-tested to 100 meters, this watch is suitable for both swimming and snorkeling.

Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

This is an outstanding watch for the price. I compared several websites and this was the lowest price available. Shipping was extremely fast. This was my first purchase from Amazon.com and it definitely will not be the last.

This watch is very good quality, which is what we expect from Seiko. This is my first kinetic watch. It will require almost continual wearing in order to keep it charged. This is a switch for me as I'm used to Citizen Eco watches which I can sit in a window to charge.

I have a small wrist yet the watch sits very comfortably. The band is very high quality and comfortable also. I hardly am aware that I have it on.

It will take some getting used to in order to quickly tell the time on the diminutive clock display.

The tiny hand luminance is virtually useless. I couldn't see them at all even after shining a flashlight on them. Don't count on telling the time at midnight.

Per other reviewers I did see the white-dial version of this same watch for $100 more. Go figure.

I hope I'll still be able to give a glowing review a year from now.

Wow! Surprisingly, at first I did'nt like the way this watch looked in my wrist, but after noticing it's craftmanship (very solid and elegant) I figured it would'nt hurt to try it out... especially since the place I bought it had it on sale for [...] dollars.


I really love the kinetic feature, the stop watch and the fact that it has a sapphire crystal.
