Eye catcher of a watch, October 26, 2004
My eye caught this beauty in a window display and I was hooked!
I am a watch-nut, I admit...but you take a look for yourself and see if you don't have a pang or two of ownership-desire!
Firstly it just has a regality I will call it, with its highly polished case sides 14mm high, its jet black rectangular face and its almost invisibly transparent egg-shaped sapphire crystal and standing out in stark comparison a busy/complex bunch of red and white hands and 3 dial displays and today's date in a small red circle at the very bottom. Awesome face!!!
First watch I have owned that I just have to look at often just in admiration. I guess I am a material-guy...but watches have become art forms to me since I had my first Waltham watch as a birthday gift in 1950.
This SNL015 catches people's eyes and almost always an inquiry as to "what does it do?" I often take it off, let them feel the truly hefty solidity, look at the clear sapphire crystal back at the "only AC electric generator machinery in a watch today". It looks like a pure auto mechanical watch from the seethru back, but it is in fact, the proprietary Seiko electical generator which provides electricity to the semi-secret technology Seiko uses to store electrical power (probably a complex capacitative bank), which then in turn powers electric motors to run the various complications.
It has a fixed tachymetre inscribed around the oval shaped (egg-shaped actually) bezel. The crystal face is coated on both sides so superbly it is truly non-reflective and appears almost non-existent! I have never seen a comparable crystal, even in the premier watches of today. The technology in Seiko's coating is superior to all in my opinion, bar none.
It has a screw-down crown and two push buttons which operate with satisfying smoothness. The gearing in the time setting stem is wonderfully easy to make a highly accurate set. The flyback second hand is crisp and spectacularly fast upon actuation.
Hand/dial registration is visually perfect, as it should be in a $1000 watch, but is often not the case in many big-name cases nowadays! Accuracy is its forte, with a +/- 15 seconds ANNUALLY!
The stainless bracelet is first quality, sturdy, with a positive latch clasp and a two button release mechanism.
In conculusion, IF YOU ENJOY WRISTWATCHES, OBTAIN ONE OF SEIKO'S SPORTURA KINETIC CHRONOGRAPH SNL015 machines! I expect it to last me many years with its unique electro/mechanical operating system with practically nothing to wear out and requiring zero maintainance. Treat yourself...or tell your friends that you would like a Seiko Sportura instead of the traditional gold watch upon retirement. (That's what I did!)

Stunning Piece, February 15, 2005
I viewed this stunning Seiko at various jewelery and dept. stores and could not get enough of it. Being a Seiko collector I am very into these new Kinetic Chronos (I also own the ultra rare SLQ-017 and a Arctura Kinetic Chrono). This watch upon handling is just a hefty piece and quality is seen everywhere on this stunning watch. The chrono works perfectly although I'd like to see it go up to 60mins rather than 45 (blame that on the designer) and the dails are much easier to read than the Arctura Chrono. The screw down crown is a nice touch but I'd suggest not bring this into the ocean/pool (leave that to the Black Monster!) and the stunning "orange" markers make this watch a very "speed" oriented style watch. Like the meters in race cars, etc... The see thru back is also a very nice touch and the band is strong and stunning to look at! The face is the best part, its not your everyday style face. The Tachymeter scale is useful and the 4 screws that hold down the face also is striking. I can't say enough about this watch, its awesome. When wearing this be forwarned of people asking you what brand is it? What does it do? Wow that looks like an expensive watch! I've received many comments just walking in the mall and wearing this watch (although I seem to get more comments when I wear the Sportura SLQ-017 but who wouldn't say something about that watch!!!!) If I may say, if you would like to purchase this incredible looking tool/watch please look online. Do not pay the retail tag of $995! Nor pay the so called discount price of $740! You can find this model for as little as $500 online so...do your research!!!!!

You want the best go for it, March 19, 2005
This review is from: Seiko Men's SNL015 Sportura Kinetic Watch (Watch)
Saw this watch on sale at Macy's-couldn't touch the price from Amazon. Ordered it on Saturday afternoon, received the watch on Tuesday from FedEx. Gorgous watch with heft, letting you know its there. Brought it to the local jeweler to have it adjusted to my wrist, $5 bucks later, you're wearing a watch that expensive Mall store jewelers are charging a thousand bucks but with the gimmick of 12 months free interest loan.
