Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The heavy-duty Seiko Men's Mechanitech Kinetic Chronograph Watch includes three chronograph subdials the minutes, seconds, and hours as they pass, as well as a speed-calculating tachymeter encircling the dial. This high-performance watch is constructed with a stainless steel case, a stationary stainless steel bezel with tachymeter, and a stainless steel link bracelet with a push-button-deployment clasp. A durable hardlex window shields the black-and-gray dial face, which features the three chronograph subdials, silver and red watch hands, and a discrete date calendar at the six o'clock position. Powered by kinetic movement, the watch is water resistant to 330 feet. It is presented in a luxuriously padded Seiko case.

Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new classic from Seiko, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Seiko Men's SNL053 Mechanitech Kinetic Chronograph Watch (Watch)
What a great value this watch is.
It takes up real estate on your wrist, so be prepared.
I have a medium wrist and this Seiko looks great on it.
Build quality is typical Seiko - excellent.
Detailing is amazing - in low light the ribbing on the face takes on a whole new wow appearance.
It is second only to my age of discovery 6m13 as an attention getter.
The timekeeping is excellent.
The only quibble I have is the micro size markers on the stop watch- but I bought this watch for looks, not Olympic timekeeping.
The box is heavy and there is a reason for that.
The watch is solid as a brick, heavy and like the watch, the band is thick and heavy.
It is nice for a change that a watch band is not thin and wimpy.
I Highly recommend this watch on value and for the board room (or impressing snobby friends with their fake Rolexes and Paneris).
