Seiko...Class, Beauty, and Dependability.,

Seiko Men's Coutura Collection watch #SNP016
As someone who researches any major purchase in great depth, I demand the most for my money. I am very picky with anything I buy. I have owned several Seiko watches, purchased from back in my High school years to the present. This one replaced my favorite chronograph purchased in 1992. I looked at every watch currently available via Seiko's website. This style jumped out immediately. It was available as a standard quartz chronograph, a kinetic, and finally a kinetic with the perpetual calendar. I'm an all or nothing type of guy, so I went for it all. After owning this watch for two weeks, I couldn't be happier. I'm sure all of my other Seikos will be neglected for quite some time. This watch is versatile: sporty, dressy, and just plain classy. I'm expecting the durability and dependability I have grown to expect from the Seiko name. Being a watch lover, I have many times contemplated purchasing a Rolex, Tag, or other big buck watch. Everyone that I know who owns such a timepiece has had large repair bills within 5 years of owning one. I have never replaced more than a battery...now, with the kinetic feature, I won't even have to worry about that!!

In response to the Leap Year feature...,

I recently graduated with my masters degree, and I'm going to buy this watch to commemorate the occasion. I was discouraged when I saw the review about the leap year feature. I agree that I do not need to have this on my watch, but in order to set the watch (in the event that the power runs completely out), this dial is necessary. I like the 24 hour feature on the right-subdial, and the fact that I will never have to change a battery or set the calendar (at least for 100 years). The sleep function, which can keep time internally for 4 years running on minimal power, is also very nice. Even after many years, just pick up the watch and shake it a few times and it will automatically set to the correct time and date using the internal clock.
In researching this watch, I read many reviews of similar watches (SNP017 and SNP008). I suspect that this watch is too new to have received the positive comments yet, but I am looking forward to wearing this watch. I suggest that others interested in this watch read the stellar reviews of the other Coutura watches when making their decision to buy. Finally, I had a budget of $500 to buy my watch, and started out on the Seiko website where the prices are listed very high. Then I discovered that the same $500 could buy a much higher-end watch at Amazon. The prices on Amazon are the best that you will find for these watches, I was able to buy a $750 watch for only $400. Quite a deal.

The Leap year issue,

I have another Seiko perpetual calendar watch. The perpetual calendar is the nicest feature I have ever had. You don't need to set the date. It knows the months and leap years to keep it correct. My old watches never had the right date because I hated reseting them.
The reason this watch has the leap year display is so that you can set it right the first time. On the older seiko perpetuals, you needed to do some fancy footwork with pulling the adjustment knob and watching the hands tick off the month and leap year. You needed the manual to get it right. Now it just shows the leap year on the dial. Probably did this just to stop getting tech support calls on how to set the date right.

"Set & Forget",

I usually go online and read reviews of items I am interested in before I buy. There were no reviews available for this item for awhile... but I just loved the way it looks and the fact that its "Set & Forget" function that last in a man's lifetime is ... well, almost "MAGICAL"....hehehe!!
After carefully reviewing other watches.... I decided on this one. I am glad I did, this is one BEAUTIFUL watch!!! Don't worry about the weight, you won't even know it's there after a while. I just wished that they could have made this one a little bit thinner!

SNP016 Kinetic Perpetual Two Tone-Great looking watch..,

I just ordered this watch today after weeks and weeks of reading reviews on seiko kinetic watches. I think this watch is sporty, good looking, and beautifully design. I am a Tag Heuer guy and had 2 of them for daily use until I saw this seiko model which I think is so cool. I did contemplated of getting the SNP008, SNP007, and SNP017 which is the same model but on black ion finished.
I went to several Jewelry stores,JC Penney,Macys, and Fortunoff to see the SNP016 but none of them has these SNP016 available on display. I guess this is too new as one store showed me the 2007/2008 Seiko Catalog and it was just released for 2008. Im glad I ordered this watch. Can't wait to have it delivered. Update! Watch just got delivered today 3/11. What a fast service. Wow,the watch is so sporty, nice, and beautiful...I guess my Tag's will be in the closet for a while. This looks more expensive looking than my Tag's. With the price I paid for my recent purchase of my Tag, I could have bought 4 of this Seiko Kinetic Perpetual. |
