This Seiko is such a great value for the little amount of money it costs.

So far after a month of break-in, it's running about 6-7 seconds fast a day, which is excellent performance for non-chronometer mechanical watch.

I really love the rounded crystal and gold accents, it gives the whole watch a retro Art Deco feel.

Seiko 5 watches are some of the most under-appreciated automatics on the market today. This is a great looking watch, with strong resemblance to Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms classic diver. The watch is large, but not overwhelming on my 6.5 inch wrist.
Note, this watch is automatic but does not hand wind - meaning you cant turn the crown to charge it, so you'll need to wave\shake it to get the initial charge going. Also, it's not hacking, so a second hand will not stop when you are setting the watch. This is not an issue as you can turn the crown counter-clockwise to synch the time. So far after a month of break-in, it's running about 6-7 seconds fast a day, which is excellent performance for non-chronometer mechanical watch.
Watch has 100M of water-resistance, but I'm not sure if I plan to swim with it as the crown is not a screw-in and 100m is not enough for my comfort. This is more of an everyday casual watch than a true diver.
The bracelet is decent, but after trying it on, I felt it was a little light for a watch of this size, so I ended up getting a sailcloth strap with gold accents and it looks great on it.
Overall an excellent value, especially at $130 that I paid. (it's not easy to find it at that price, and amazon partner prices do fluctuate quite a bit)

This is a fine watch, but be aware that you are buying a movement that is not produced in Japan. This matters to some people. Mine was made in Malaysia. The quality is likely the same. It's still a Seiko, and it's still a 7s36 movement. The product description on this particular watch, however, is inaccurate.

It grows on you. Seiko has made a fairly massive effort to deliver a tough, sturdy, no nonsense working watch. I live on an island in Casco Bay Maine, and this piece has been subjected to regular dunkings in frigid water, followed by baking in the sun. It shrugs off salt, dirt and scratches very well. In fact, after 4 weeks of wearing it, it still looks new.

Some watches just look... right. There's something about the proportions, the finishes, the overall design... but whatever it is, all these elements come together to make something more than the sum of the parts. This watch is a fantastic example of this. On paper it doesn't sound like much... just another Seiko 5 "desk diver" with the 7s movement, 100 meter water resistance, and a Hardlex crystal. The pics of the watch on the bracelet don't inspire much confidence either, because the bracelet doesn't look all that impressive. But there's a lot more to this watch than pictures online might suggest.

I originally bought this watch to do the "Fifty-Five Fathoms" mod that a lot of people do with the SNZH5x watches... there are a few manufacturers that sell dials you can replace the stock one with to give the appearance of a $10k+ Blancpain Fifty Fathoms vintage dive watch. Upon receiving the watch, however, I've decided against this... the dial, with the Seiko 5 badging and markers in a tasteful gold, is actually really striking and beautiful. The crystal is gently domed, which adds to the vintage-cool vibe of this watch. The sides of the case are gently rounded as well, and the bezel, with its Hardlex insert, adds some extra visual interest and shine to the face. None of these things come through in pictures of this watch- it's a pleasant surprise when you take it out of the box how the light plays over all these surfaces and gives the impression of a much more expensive timepiece.

The first thing I did with this watch was get it off that bracelet. I prefer straps to bracelets anyway and the one on this watch is nothing special. I put the watch on a black and grey "James Bond" NATO strap right away and really liked the look.

Great price for a mechanical watch with a glass display back. This watch oozes class and has a fantastic vintage diver look. I would have easily given it (5) stars if the watch had a screw down crown and better water resistance. Anyone would be happy receiving this watch.

I have owned my watch for almost a year and i feel like i needed to write a review. Im not gonna mention movement or crazy tech details because this is if you want to buy it or not.

First off my girlfriend bought me this watch and honestly its one of my favorite watches i own. I have about a 55-60mm wrist size and at first i thought it was too small but its fits just fine on my wrist and the thickness of the case helps. The wieght of the watch is phenomenal. The weight gives it a more "expensive" feel. Not too heavy but not light either.

The looks are impecable. I get complements everytime i wear it. It looks great. The bezel has a beautiful clear enamel fill that gives it that extra dimention. The crystal is also beautiful. Its not a saphire crystal but a mineral but even so it does not have a scratch on it and mind you i wear this watch almost daily. The dial has a nice black enamel sheen that makes the watch stand out and the applied index only enhance the look.

Now the durability...GREAT! I beat on it an it has alot of scratches on the bracelet but thats because i work in an office and my arms are flying across the table surface daily. Other than that the bezel and crystal are in perfect condition.

Now with the bad...the links are folded meaning they are NOT solid links which you would find on most expensive watches (a bit dissapointing) but seiko did a great job hiding the seams. Another thing is the squeak...yes it squeaks! At first it was annoying but it grew on me. Most watches with hollow end links will squeek.

As others have said this watch does not hold power for very long but ive actually had my watch lasting for 2 days which is fine for me.
