A culture of innovation connects a 19th century Tokyo clock shop with 20th century advances in timekeeping to an extraordinary 21st century "quiet revolution." Continually driven by dedication and passion, established a multitude of world’s first technologies… transforming the principles of timekeeping.

The first quartz wristwatch – changed the history of time.

The first Kinetic – marked a new era in quartz watch technology.

In 1969, Seiko Astron, the first quartz wristwatch - was introduced.

In an instant, Seiko exponentially improved the accuracy of wristwatches –And Seiko technology firmly established today’s standard in Olympic and sports timing.

1984, another celebrated first – Kinetic Technology – powered by body movement.

Kinetic – a quartz mechanism with unparalleled accuracy –the driving force behind more world’s firsts.

Kinetic Chronograph – the next generation of high performance timekeeping.

Kinetic Auto Relay – automatically resets to the correct time.

Kinetic Perpetual - combining the date perfect technology of perpetual calendar with the genius of Kinetic Auto Relay.

Slim profile, light weight and good fit... Seems to be well built and is very good looking.

I also like the solar feature which should keep the watch running for a long time without changing batteries.

All in all this is really a great little buy and has every indication of being a long lasting watch.

I bought one of these watches recently as an experiment - I have many Citizen eco-drives, which I really like. This watch is up there with them, and given the price, even more so. It is famously accurate, elegant to look at, and everything works, even the alarm, which is still not much use to me as I am somewhat deaf. The chronograph has a delay feature which puts it above most eco-drive chronographs.

My criticism of the band is not so much that it is light - it is quite acceptable to me in that regard - but it is relatively inflexible as to length. While I adjust most bands to the right size I have left the band on this watch somewhat loose as the alternative - removing a link - would make it too tight. But as I have a large collection of watches, the occasional loose band is a useful alternative.

Buy it!! I cannot understand why it is so hard to find. Maybe Seiko made a mistake I don't understand.

Very classy looking watch. My first watch (never been in habit of wearing one). Weight is good, size is just right, looks expensive, works great. It can be a little difficult to focus on quickly but I can get over that. Who wants an old man watch with big hands and numbers ..... not me

Slim profile, light weight and good fit... Seems to be well built and is very good looking. Powered on immediately after exposure to light, has not required any dedicated exposure to light source since then. Chronograph and alarm work as expected, second hand is on small dial and chronograph second hand is on big dial, some may not like this design but I think it works well and would be easier to get an accurate chronograph timer reading. Very much an upgrade in build quality and finish compared to the many Fossils I own, will likely buy another Seiko timepiece in the future.

Well, it says I have to write at least 20 words, so here goes: word word word word word word word word word word....okay, this is a great watch, the bracelet seems a bit floppy and loose but I will have it adjusted tomorrow to fit my wrist. Right out of the box and with a little bit of light it was running ("It's...Alive!!), and the functions remind me of the traditional Seiko alarm-chrono, like the venerable SNA586P1. Plus, the SSC001 has a 'demo' function for the alarm, so you can check that it's working pretty much anytime. The alarm is so quiet, I think it's more like a daytime, hey-I'm-awake reminder, you can hear it if the watch is in your ear, but it works well. The chrono, date, time and everything else is supreme on this watch. The dial is more grey than black, although the date shows as black with white numbering - really sharp. And the inner bezel/ring around the dial of the watch is black with white numbering, sharp too. So far, performance is great, keeping good time. Well, there's my 20 words, heck. Seiko - king of the toolwatch/daily beater hill. Thank you.

Great product! Works great right out of the box... I put it in sunlight for a few hours like the instructions say, and so far it's 100%.

Watch looks good, kinetic feel very sophisticated and smart, but it feels straps relatively thin, less quality, like an alarm clock feature

Purchased this for my husband who is the pickiest person I know. He was delighted when he opened the package. It is very stylish and the "solar" energy is great.

Watch runs and looks good. The band was too large but it was easy to remove a link. Have owned Seikos for years and still have one that's over forty years old and runs great.
