After a lifetime of throw-away watches requiring expensive batteries, I quit wearing a watch for 2 years. My Mom, wanting to give me an extra-nice gift for being such a fine son for 50 years, surprised me with this exceptionally handsome Seiko Premier. A kinetic watch requires no batteries...in fact, I stored up 6 months of reserve power after just wearing it for one week. This is a substantial piece of jewelry...it is weighty without being uncomfortable. Another thing that really sets this watch apart from so many others is that it contains no useless or confusing dials. This watch clearly shows me "day", "date" and "time", without forcing me to squint or interpret meaningless little dials. I don't live out of a suitcase traveling the world, nor do I run marathon races, compete in yachting competitions or gather artifacts from the bottom of the ocean. I would be hard-pressed to think of something that I desperately needed to time down to a tenth of a second. This watch will get me by quite nicely in my 8 to 5 office job. It is especially nice to wear something that "turns heads", is entirely functional, and gives me great pride. Sometimes being a good son has its rewards!

Great watch, when you hold it you feel that it's very solid and you can see that a lot of attention went into the details of the watch.
If you are looking for a Seiko watch spent some more money to get a Premier, it's worth every penny.

+ Overall, it's a nice casual watch; can wear it to work, with jeans, suits, etc.
+ Above it's peers in terms of aesthetics.
+ Functions seem to work well and are simple to use (date, day of week, energy indicator).
+ Adjusting the links are simple.
+ The feel of the watch is nice and comfortable; not too light, not too heavy.
+ Watch seems pretty durable; although I accidently hit the watch on desks and such, there are no scratches yet.
+/- Kinetic quartz; Kinetic function is nice with the accuracy of a quartz, but it is still a quartz.

The alignments need some work:
- the second hand is slightly off the second ticker (1-2mm)
- the day-of-week-hand does not point to the center of the day; this hand is slightly off as well.
- When adjusting the time, the entire alignment is off slightly: When the second hand is at the 12, and minute hand should be directly on a minute ticker, but it is not. When the minute hand is at the 12, the hour hand should be directly over a hour ticker, but it is not as well.

I guess you can't expect too much from a $400 watch. However, at the same time, $400 is not cheap. And this watch is supposedly in the $800 range. For the $400 price tag, the watch is OK, but I would definitely not spend $800 on this watch. I do not regret buying this product. However, there are definitely other options out there.

I ordered this watch directly from BlueDial.com, because shipping would be free and they adjust the band size for free. I was somewhat concered about doing so from just any online reseller. But the BlueDial experience was flawless - I ordered the watch on a Sunday and it arrived via free 2-day UPS air on Wednesday. Except for no notification of shipping - they did respond quickly to my email - I could not be happier.

As for the watch - I had researched for quite a long time. Like earlier reviewer, I was looking for an attractive watch that in addition to the time, with a full second hand, provides the date and the day of the week. I do not need a chrono - most of which is for show and distracting - like a big SUV for commuting on the highway. I sort of wish I had bought the gold accented version - even if it is a bit too bling. This silver on silver, with easily visible black hands, will be less likely to have its plating wear off.

This watch is borderline big on my 7 inch wrist and it is hefty. Goes along with the Seiko's kinetic movement, which according to the Internet, has evolved since its earlier days to involve an extremely long-life lithium ion battery and not a simple capacitor. Time will tell but it beats a conventional automatic, which in my under $500 price range keeps marginal time and must be activated every two days or so, lest if stop.

7-18-11: This watch keeps excellent time week over week. The kinetic movement readily charges to six months with daily use, allowing for a week of non-use and continued function. The one problem is that the stainless steel band is very prone to scratching - admittedly mostly from working at my Apple MacBook Pro with its aluminum body. I have some extra links that I will have a local jeweler swap out and then keep it off when I am working at my laptop. Bummer.

this watch looks better in person not to big not to small the only thang that would make it better is if it where a perpetual calendar it was a gift for my father and he loves it

I recieved my Seiko Premier Kenetic a day early. I was hesitant to look for any that will catch my eye and maybe reject what I purchased....and when I open the package containing what I ordered, WOW !, Seiko Premier Kenetic SRN001P - 2 5 is really a beautiful watch...besides the bubble wrapped package tightly packed and the Seiko watch having no scratches nor any defects....altogether it was a PLUS that Blue Dial Inc. really does deliver. My Seiko Premier Kenetic is sound and I will enjoy wearing it As time do on, I plan to order more Seiko's from Blue Dial Inc. and Amazon. Thank You!

Classic beauty, and great finish. Not to mention Seiko accuracy and reliability. A little heavy, but you get used to it.
