5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps on ticking, December 30, 2009
By
This review is from: Seiko Women's SYM798 Two Tone Stainless Steel Analog with Gold Dial Watch (Watch)
There are a few negative reviews on this product. I would like to express my delight with this product and comment on the negative reviews. One consumer stated that the watch kept stopping when left off. That is the beauty of this watch. It runs on the power you give it by wearing the watch.
I am one of those people who kills watch batteries. My mother and I both do this. Something with the current in our bodies. I have been through many, many watches. I thought I might just be being buy cheap watches and spent quite a bit of money on a high quality watch about 5 years ago. I was mistaken though when that watch also died after about 12 days. I went through 34 watch batteries in those five years. I spent enough money on batteries to buy a new watch. Then I bought this Seiko.
This watch runs BECAUSE you wear it. So, do not be misinformed if you want to wear it occasionally and then leave it on the dresser or jewelry box. This needs to be worn to maintain it's time. However, I have found that mine lasts more than two days on the dresser and still is going. Then after giving it one little shake it starts right up and keeps perfect time. I think the reviewers that gave the watch a negative rating were naive when buying the watch.
This watch looks beautiful. Can be day or evening wear. Keeps time nicely. I especially like the day of the week/date function. Even when changing this function or re-setting the time..the watch keeps going. It does not turn off when the stem is pulled out. Another neat feature is that the second hand does not tick but rather it sweeps around the dial smoothly. Very neat. Even my most expensive watch did not do that.
The watch is quiet. You do not hear the winding mechanism. However, the case is slightly thicker than a normal watch because of the self wind mechanisms. Overall, I think the watch is a great buy. I would Highly Recommed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Affordable Best Buy, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Seiko Women's SYM798 Two Tone Stainless Steel Analog with Gold Dial Watch (Watch)
This is my second self-winding Seiko watch. I have had the first one for years and it has been dropped in water (water resistant) bashed into the side of the Kyak, gone snorkeling in the Cayman Islands and whatever could happen to it, it just keeps on tickin" but after ten years, it is not a "dress-up" watch, so I got a new one and this is even prettier than the first one. I love wearing it and still have a back up for rough duty!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch!, April 4, 2008
This review is from: Seiko Women's SYM798 Two Tone Stainless Steel Analog with Gold Dial Watch (Watch)
After reading what someone else wrote about this watch I was expecting it to be large. But the face is just the right size for my petite wrist. I do need to size the band. I received the watch and was extremely pleased. It can be casual and dressy. I love it!
