he is a half breed army scout being taken to the fort for crimes he did not commit
the soldiers taking him plan on killing him before they reach the fort where he will be tried and most likly hung.also in the group is the general's widowed daughter and her 6 year old son traveling to the fort to see her father. he escapes and takes the daughter and her son as hostages planning on leaving them somewhere safe cause they were nice to him everywhere he takes them to leave them the apaches have been there first and has killed everyone.after awhile the woman and her son have both grown to love him and don't want to leave. he loves them both but knows the hardships they would face by him being a breed and also running from the army.they are snowbound in a cabin until spring he has decided to take them back as soon as it thaws even if he goes to prison or hangs he has to know they are safe |
