Selda, the master.,
This review is from: Selda (Audio CD)
Picked up this most-awesome compilation of Selda's music based on description alone (and the cover art/image is intriguing, as well). What arrived in the mail is a rewarding glance at a Turkish artist and 70s music powerhouse--one that made some strong, memorable, funky music. For any crate digger, the beats are out of this world. Plus, the time signatures and chord changes (attention music nerds) will demand your attention time and time again. The recording quality is dubby and lo-fi, but that's part of the charm.
Play loud and often.

I've seen this album floating around and never bought it because of the cover. I'd heard some of the songs before on Turkish compliations. But never associated it with Selda. Selda kicks it. It's a solid Turkish album and you won't be disapointed. I'm like "Oh Selda..." It's got some rockers and it's got some nice slower melodies. It's got it all. Don't judge an album by the cover. But now, after hearing it, the cover is mad sweet. And so is what's inside. You'd be a fool to pass this up!
Selda. Reissued. Nice!

the best darn 1970's Turkish psychedelic folk rock...,

Okay, it's probably the only 1970's Turkish psychedelic folk rock I've ever listened to, but I really liked this album. On the cover it said "cop this joint by any means". I'm not quite so gullible to just go and buy it b/c of that, but I was at amoeba so I tried scanning it and they had it in their system so I listened to it and it really rocked. I wish they had the translation for each song in the liner notes (only for a couple), but besides that I'm really glad I got it!
