3.0 out of 5 stars warmer did not last
I got mine as a gift, a long time ago and never had a need for it till now. I wanted to use it to keep hot fudge for ice cream warm. I think it would of worked fine but the hot plate quit working. The button that is to go in when you place mug on top would not go in. I was unhappy with this and doubt I can get plate replaced.

This set performs exactly as described in the owner's manual: It KEEPS hot food hot, if covered.
The "hot plate" isn't a hot plate: It isn't meant to heat cold food, it's designed to maintain temperature if the lid is on the mug. If the mug is pre-heated and the food very hot, the insulated bag has kept my breakfast hot through the commute until I could eat at work (2 1/2 hours).
And it's a great size for soup at lunch, because it actually holds a whole 18 oz can's worth with enough head room for microwaving, so I don't understand the criticism that it's not as big as a regular mug. A "regular" mug is 10 - 12 oz, so this holds a lot more.
The Corningware & heater are easy to clean, although my lid is already orange from vegetable soup. The only issue I have is: Where do I carry my flatware? The pocket on the bag is too short & curves around the mug; the space inside the bag is inadequate. Otherwise, I'm thoroughly pleased with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corningware MW-20, November 26, 2007

The "hot plate" with this product isn't really good for heating a can of soup. I would have expected it to heat a can of soup off the shelf in an hour or so. I've found that if you want the soup fairly warm you had better put it on to heat 4 or more hours before you are ready to eat. It will keep a heated bowl of soup hot for as long as you want. But what is the purpose of having this "hot plate" if you have to heat the soup in the microwave first?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little item, November 19, 2007

I use this bag and mug to take soup to work. It's plenty big for me. Plus there is still room at the top of the bag for a sandwich. I can plug in the warmer to keep the soup warm after I microwave it, as it sometimes takes me a while to eat it, when I eat at my desk. Very well made. Good value for the money. Great gift item.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the Corningware MW-20 Lunch-to-Go!, November 18, 2011
This review is from: Corningware MW-20 Lunch-To-Go (Kitchen)
I drink a lot of coffee at work. My work place installed an on-demand, fresh ground, single serve coffee / beverage dispenser. But, my larger insulated cup was too tall to fit in the dispensing tray. I looked long and hard to find a shorter cup, that would fit inside the dispenser, while still holding at least 2 full cups of coffee. This cup fits the dispenser with room to spare. CONS: This cup is not insulated, and because of it's width and exposed surface area, the coffee cools down rather rapidly. FIX: Corningware actually makes a special desktop warming unit for this cup. The Corningware MW-20. This desktop warming unit must be in very high demand, because everyone in the world is out of stock as I write this review. I managed to find one on eBay. It came in the mail 2 days ago, and I took it to work yesterday for the first time. I am ecstatic! I tried a cheap coffee warmer, not designed for this cup, but it only kept the coffee luke warm. The MW-20 actually keeps the coffee very hot! Not quite hot enough to burn your lips or mouth, but very hot none-the-less. Much hotter than the other desktop warmers I tried, and it has a built-in pressure switch. When you place the mug on the warming plate, it turns on. When you take it off, the unit switches itself off automatically. Since this mug holds 20 ounces, it will also hold a full can of soup. If you heat the soup in the microwave first, then use the cup in conjunction with the MW-20 warming plate, you'll have a nice warm lunch, that will stay at a perfect eating temperature. In summary, I love this 20 ounce mug and MW-20 desktop heating element combination, and I would highly recommend this combination to anyone who can find it!

This item is great. I have tried to order more with no success. It must be a

3.0 out of 5 stars Small, portable, not leak-proof., September 12, 2008

The container is OK for small items, or if you want to keep a large cup of coffee hot (with the heating pad). The lid seals tight, but the vented cover sometimes leaks if you tip it sideways. This is a problem if you fill it with soup and carry it to work. This also does not hold a package of ramen comfortably; I have to break up the noodles to fit it all, then there is little space for broth. If it were a little bigger, I might rate it higher.

The mug alone costs 6.99, so the kit for 16.99 is a bargain. I love the mug size, its handle and vent lid. I would prefer an on and off button for the warmer, but it does keep my coffee warm. I don't know if I'll ever use the lunch bag but it is well made.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too small!, April 5, 2007
This review is from: Corningware MW-20 Lunch-To-Go (Kitchen)
I don't know if this item is for kid's lunch or what. The bag itself is small, and the mug is even smaller! Frankly speaking, I can't think of any use of it with this size, except maybe put in coffee. But then why bother using this mug? A regular mug can be much more convenient to hold. Anyway, I just returned it. Regardless how much it costs, it has to be at least useful!!
