This review is from: Selected Tables, Charts and Formulas for the Student Cinematographer from the American Cinematographer Manual (Paperback)
For those of you who still love Cinematography and are active at it. You've tried but just can't seem to make that painful conversion to the digital image. This is a "spec" book that everyone of us must have!
Of course the "American Cinematographers Manual" is the Hollywood standard and no accomplished Cinematographer is without one tucked in their back pocket. However, all the information this particular book is directly taken from the A.S.C. Manual. The intricate wave forms, calculations and technicalities have been removed and what remains is a solid foundation of solid principles and techniques for any Cinematographer. This book claims to be for the "student" but I disagree. I'm a semi-professional and have been studying film for over 17 years. Yet, this book still has a lot to teach even the professional. I would assume. One of the nice qualities of this handbook is it covers even the smaller format films like Super8mm. (Which is my choice of format) ~The "American Cinematographers Manual" is the ultimate book for the serious Cinematographer. It includes all of the material in this book and much, much more. However it's 10 times the price! If you've got the money,....(buy the ASC Manual_ Shhhhh~ |
