MARGARET ATWOOD, whose work has been published in over thirty-five countries, is the author of more than forty books of fiction, poetry, and critical essays. I picked this book up randomly, being a fan of her novels but not familiar with her complete body of work. I find that her short stories are more satisfying and expressive than her poems, although one of my favorite poems of all time is in this collection. Still, it is a mixed bag overall; some poems are gems and some are absolutely ignorable.
