Jimpster - Selected Remixes 2000-2003,
This review is from: Selected Remixes 2000-2003 (Audio CD)
Jimpster's own productions have been uniformly outstanding, so why would anyone expect his remixes to be different? _Selected Remixes 2000/2003_ proves this without a doubt. He at once embodies the best of what Naked Music could have been (Lisa Shaw, Blue Six): deep, soulful house, with touches of jazz or breaks when necessary. But he handles tropicalia equally well (Robin Jones, John Beltran) and can shift gears into downtempo (Intelligent Jazz and OMFO) as smooth as silk. If you want upbeat dancehall, he can also do that (Sista Widey). Of particular note is his sublime mix of "Endless Bow" for Hajime Yoshizawa, a track that made the compilation circuit a few years back for good reason. Likewise, this compilation hits all the right spots, for all the right reasons.
