The man whom James Joyce considered the greatest prose stylist in the language is also the most persuasive of apologists. Christianity--and the Roman Catholic Church in particular--has received routinely bad press. Newman is its most eloquent, passionate defender.

Highly recommended, February 5, 2004

This is an excellent book. Newman's sermons are some of the best I have read. He takes the faith seriously, and his sermons showcase his erudite and eloquent style - though be warned they are dense. This edition also has a long, helpful intro essay that covers Newman's background and his main theological emphases. Highly recommended.
