Pretty Good,

This review is from: Selected Stories of Bret Harte (Kindle Edition)
This is a nice free collection of short stories by Bret Harte. It's actually my first introduction to his work, since I was never required to read his things in school and his name wasn't exactly brought up with the frequency of Twain, Faulkner, et. al.
So anyway, the best thing about this is obviously the fact that it's free, and it's a collection of stories. The only slight downside is that there is no active table of contents. This means you'll pretty much have to search for the stories you want. Here's the table of contents, so you know what you're getting: INTRODUCTION THE LUCK OF ROARING CAMP THE OUTCASTS OF POKER FLAT MIGGLES TENNESSEE'S PARTNER THE IDYL OF RED GULCH BROWN OF CALAVERAS HIGH-WATER MARK A LONELY RIDE THE MAN OF NO ACCOUNT MLISS THE RIGHT EYE OF THE COMMANDER NOTES BY FLOOD AND FIELD AN EPISODE OF FIDDLETOWN BARKER'S LUCK A YELLOW DOG A MOTHER OF FIVE BULGER'S REPUTATION IN THE TULES A CONVERT OF THE MISSION THE INDISCRETION OF ELSBETH THE DEVOTION OF ENRIQUEZ |
