NEWMAN AT HIS BEST, May 7, 2008

Alfred Newman is at his best when conducting musicals. These arrangements are refreshing and wonderful. Newman's arrangements are quite frankly better than the original ones. His tempos are great. Absolutely sharp and right on the money. The sound on this recording is excellent. Why isn't this album on CD? Shame on Capital Records! They don't know a good thing if it slapped them in the face. Look how long it took Capital to finally put Newman's "Ports of Paradise" on CD. Come on Capital, get your act together.
