Don't Read it,

This is by far the most awful book I have ever read. It is poorly written and poorly researched. Throughout the entire book, the child is treated as an object to be controlled rather than an indivdual person whose needs should be considered. The author is clearly very ignorant of selective mutism, and the book is based on common stereotypes rather than genuine knowledge and facts. Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder/phobia, and these children deserve to be treated with therapy appropiate to phobias. The methods desribed in this book are manipulative and cruel, and in some cases outright child abuse.

Schools get money for special education when they label kids. Treat the kid like she or he is shy! THis book is awful. THe only reason for getting it would be to disregard everything it says.
