Product Description

The new LK342 4X2 HDMI 1.3 1080p matrix switcher is a 4-by-2 HDMI/DVI switching matrix. It allows up to 4 digital HDMI or DVI ports to be switched to two independent displays. The two outputs can display different sources from different inputs simultaneously. It has the ability of equalization and amplification to ensure HDMI signal's transmission through long cable runs without degrading signal quality. Because it is a true matrix switcher, it allows any input to be routed to any output; or the same input to be routed to all outputs, or any combination. Includes 110-240VAC to 5VDC power adapter. A convenient analog stereo audio output is provided for the audio output on HDMI output A. This can be used to route the audio from HDMI output A in analog stereo L/R format to receivers, amplifiers or self amplified speakers that do not have digital audio or HDMI inputs. The LK342 Matrix switcher offers solutions for digital entertainment center, HDTV retail and show sites and security concerns, data center control, information distribution, conference room presentation, school and corporate training environments.

This HDMI Matrix was the solution that I had been looking for. I run several HDMI devices to a computer monitor so being able to switch between devices is awesome but the real treat is the digital to analog audio converter from this switch as the monitor I have does not have speakers. The switch is thin, unobtrusive and most importantly, works great.

I ordered this unit and it was easy to hook up. The A output worked but there was a problem connecting with the B output. I contacted supplier and they replaced free of charge. The second unit works great. 4 HDMI inputs to choose going to 2 HDMI outputs. It does not have digital sound input, but not an issue for my use. I run Xbox. cable, Roku, and DVD player to either a overhead projector or optional flat screen tv. No problems, easy to use. If you dont need ditigal sound, I recommend. I would give 5 stars but had the do-over.

I purchased this product to share a DirecTV cable box, an IPTV box (Katrina TV) that we have to pick up Russian programming, and an Apple TV between a 65" TV located in our family room, and a 46" SkyVue outdoor TV located on our covered 'outdoor entertainment area'.

It works well.

I purchased this product from Amazon, but not this seller. This product is sold by a number of different sellers on Amazon (I have counted at least three), and it is hard to know they are all the same thing. The reviews are all separate for each seller even though it is the exact same product. When looking at 4x2 HDMI Matrix Switches, you have to look at the pictures carefully to understand this. I simply chose the seller with the best price for the exact same product.

A reviewer mentioned that when switching video sources, it takes a few seconds, and thought this is a defect. However, the fact that it takes a few seconds to switch is not a defect.

This box uses the Explore Microelectronics EP9432 chip which is a single chip with all six (4 in and 2 out) HDMI ports on a single Repeater/Matrix chip. This chip must re-sync the HDCP, which takes a few seconds, each time the video source is switched.

(Explore makes another chip, the EP9442, which supports Instant Port Switching because it has, on-chip, 4 HDCP RX ciphers.)

In my case, this slight delay in switching, just a few seconds, is not a problem because we do not often need to switch our video sources.

The box is in a very solid metal case. It does not feel cheap. All the connectors, power and HDMI are on the rear of the box so wires are not running out of the side or front. I just have it sitting on top of my DirecTV box.

One thing: the remote does not come with a battery.

I tried the comparable J-Tech switcher before this one but had probs (see my review on it if you come across it). This was my replacement.

This one works as advertised and has sufficient info on the aux audio out, unlike the other one.

Benefits I like:
- all inputs and outputs are on the rear
- has slim form factor
- friendly green LEDs (the other had harsh red ones)
- power switch on the front
- phono out
- switches quickly (faster than the other one)

The audio out was the clencher for me. I have a first gen Bose Cinemate that only supports analog, and this one works great for me. (Note, you may need to set your devices to output LPCM.)

Main cons:
- the power cord is too short for my needs; I currently have a dangling power strip :)
- the remote is underpowered (it didn't work from my couch), but I have a Harmony remote from Logitech, so I programmed it for this (IOW, a non-issue for me)

Recommended!

First of all, the device functions as promised. Two independent outputs that each can connect to one of four inputs. I like the slim design, all connectors in back, and all controls in front.

However, in operation, both outputs get interrupted when you change anything, which leaves the connected devices scrambling for a few seconds to reestablish communication. This is my first project wiring up HDMI devices, and I assume that this behavior is not considered normal and acceptable.

For example, if you change the input for output A, then both outputs A and B get interrupted. If you unplug any of the plugs, both outputs get interrupted. If you plug in any of the plugs, both outputs get interrupted.

For my purposes, this behavior is annoying, but I rarely switch the inputs and don't plug anything in or out during normal operation. My application is at a church where I have a PC as one of the inputs and a DVD player as another input. I have one output attached to a projector and the other to a monitor in the control booth. Sometimes I need to use the DVD player, so I switch the monitor to show the DVD player so that I can cue up the player, but I want to leave the projector showing the PC until I am ready to show the DVD. Unfortunately, when I change the monitor to show the DVD player, the projector output gets interrupted so that the projector spends a few seconds reestablishing the signal. Not a disaster, but annoying nonetheless.
