When I was living in L.A. with my brother-my brother asked who was Selena.I did'nt know who she was after hearing about her trajic death that year.I saw the movie on HBO later on my own and loved it.I got into Selena's music inculding this soundtrack.This remastered soundtrack is outstanding-The spoken liner notes by the band and family members is very interesting.This edition includes lyrics as well.The music itself-so wonderful and good.Whether it's in english or spanish-I still love it.Okay,I'm a Gringo who loves all types of music incudling Selena.

A Good Introduction to Selena's Talent and Recordings,
This review is from: Selena (Audio CD)
Selena the movie was an effort by fans and family to encapsulate the life of a beloved Tejano superstar, introduce her to a new generation of fans, and to keep her memory alive. The soundtrack to the film is then a great companion and testament to the film's vision and presents Selena in a very marketable way.
The soundtrack is obviously designed to introduce English-speaking fans to a predominantly Spanish-singing artist. Selena's two most well-known English tracks, "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall in Love" are featured predominantly in the film and are therefore necessary additions. Other English songs like "Is it The Beat?" and "Only Love", and strangely her cover of "A Boy Like That" are tracks from earlier in the singer's career and are not featured at all in the film, but are obviously included as a way to draw new English-speaking fans in. The only Spanish songs included are on the "Cumbia Medley", a mash-up of live performances from her 1993 "Live" album and her performance at the Houston Astrodome in 1995. None of them are heard here at their full-length. The final tracks on the album, "Viviras Selena" and "One More Time" are Spanish Language and English Language tributes to the singer respectively. Neither one really pulls off as a stand-alone track, but are nice additions and again in line with the mission-statement of the film. The addition of an oldies mash-up (not performed by Selena or her band) which is heard in the film for less than a minute but NOT of the other featured Spanish songs boggles my mind. Over all the soundtrack serves its purpose, introducing new Selena fans to her recordings and giving them a taste of what could've been (by over-including English tracks) and celebrating her memory with an overview of her career.

REMASTERED!! DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Selena (Audio CD)
This is Selena's Landmark album and one of the best Selena albums out there. According to A.B. Quintinilla {Selena's Brother} this was the best Latin albums in the whole world. Now EMI Latin is proud to release the new remastered version of Selena's 1989 Album {At The time of it's debut EMI was known as EMI/Capitol} with an enhanced section and spoken liner notes by Selena's family and friends. I had gotten this as a birthday gift and it has become one of my favorites and because I loved Sukiyaki and as an added bonus Selena's 1987 hit La Bamba is here. My Advice, Skip all of Selena's greatest hits albums and go start with Selena. It is very good album and is simply the best Selena album ever released in Latin music history,HOTSEAT IN MEMORY OF SELENA, {1971-1995}

No Difference,

The only difference between the Original Soundtrack and the Enhanced Limited Edition is the 13th track. It is just Selenas' family talking about the soundtrack.
