At the price listed, I thought these would be just good enough for a few Saturday jam sessions before failing. Well, after replacing 4 of the track lighting bulbs that got vibrated out of the sockets, I was officially impressed. I bought two of these to try and balance the sounds in my system, and now its still not balanced because I have to go and buy more speaker for the music because there is too much bass. These are serious speakers for serious musicians and DJ's and audiophiles. One waring! make sure you have a good amplifier. I initially hooked these up to an American Audio VLP600 and was not impressed. The speakers were making a slapping sound and did not really deliver any bass. However, once connected to the Crown XLS and 1600watts of bridged mono power, they became a force that I'm convinced can start an earthquake.

I wanted to take full advantage of these speakers, so I contacted Selenium to get recommendations on box dimensions and they emailed me these:

a. Ideal enclosure specification for 15SWS800:

i. Vented box

ii. 2,82 cu ft internal volume

iii. 2 ducts (vents) = 4" (diameter) x 6,5" (depth)

iv. Filtered from 40Hz to 150Hz


A very important thing is the item iv. above. There must be a subsonic filter working at 40Hz; and the hi-pass frequency cut has to be above 100Hz (we suggest 150Hz).

I modified those dimensions a little so that it would better match up with my existing speakers, but OMG. Everything thats not nailed down is going to be moving when these start playing.
