After a month of using this shelf liner in several areas of my house, my opinion is mixed. The liner is very cute; you can't find better patterns anywhere else. I love seeing these fun patterns all over my house. However, it's not very sturdy. I would not recommend it for shelves that get a lot of use.

It is holding up very well in my bathroom drawers and under the sink area. I keep small, light things in these areas. It's also doing well on the shelves in my linen closet. In the kitchen, it is not doing well. The edges are peeling up in many places. The liner on shelves that hold my baking pans have several gouges already and I am very careful pulling the pans in and out. There is also gouging on the shelf where I keep my containers of flour, sugar, and such. Anywhere where the edge of the paper meets the exposed edge of a shelf, this stuff is going to peel a little. But it's great for drawers and anywhere that you can wrap the liner down around the edge of a shelf.

What a pain to get in the drawers. But once it is in, It looks awesome! Someone told me to use a small soft paint roller and roll the bubbles out as you go, wish i would have known that before hand.

A friend papered her kitchen pantry with these shelves, and I was immediately super jealous of how fresh and modern it looked. Yes, this is what 30-something women with young children do on Friday nights. They drink wine and seethe at how much prettier their friend's shelf paper is. I'm used to only finding dowdy old floral papers and then immediately casting aside the dream of having a beautiful, cheery pantry. It's hard, sometimes...having a dark, boring, blah pantry with paper left from 1961. (Target, where were you for me on this one? I thought you had my back. You did not.)

But then this! Gray and white! Chevrons! TRENDY! HIP! BRIGHT!

I was very pleased with how easy the paper was to lay down. I repositioned several sheets without issues, and didn't have problems with air bubbles. Just start with corner peeled back, then slowly peel off the backing as you press it down. I didn't use any special tools--just used my hand to slowly smooth any bubbles or bumps out. I didn't notice any particularly strong odors like other reviewers. It had a bit of a "new car smell" for a day, but nothing noxious--and it was definitely gone within a few hours.

My kitchen pantry looks so bright and classy now!

I am doing a whole-house overhaul and I bought this "shelf liner" to be used in a manner other than lining my shelves. I decided that my stairs, which are in very good condition but are painted stark white, needed a little sprucing up otherwise. I have always appreciated a clean chevron pattern, and grey is a very popular hue for decorating at the moment. I purchased the shelf liner and used it like a giant sticker, applying it to the facing (vertical portion) of my stairs leading up to the bedroom in my house. Using this like a decal is much easier than hand-painting a similar design on my stairs with a stencil and messy paint.

I love that the graphic and the colors are trendy as it allows me to add some design detail into my house without making a huge time or monetary investment into materials. If I get bored, or if the design appears extremely out-of-date in a couple years as trends are apt to do, I can just peel off the sticker and go back to plain white stairs.

My only complaint about this product (and any sticky-backed product) is that positioning it is a bit of a challenge. It's not easy to get a piece large enough to cover a stair without the sticky plastic draping, wrinkling and annoyingly, sticking to itself. It's unavoidable and is a problem you'd have with any brand I'm sure, since the tensile strength has to be low enough to allow for flexible product. So it's not perfect, but that is not the fault of the specific item or manufacturer (hence 4 stars instead of 5).

I am telling you, this stuff is great to clean too. Foot traffic makes dirt no matter how clean you try to keep everything. This will clean up just as easily as the paint on the stairs will. I love that because the material can be kept clean very easily, and therefore it will look new for a long time to come. Great trick for sprucing up a small space or creating an interesting space out of a formerly plain one!

If you are planning on one small area that is flat go ahead and try it. If on the other hand you were thinking of a drawer or the shelves in a cupboard, save yourself the headache. It is next to impossible to try & smooth it out. Even using a squeege & an exacto knife. I normally have the patience for all the projects I attempt. This 'horrible sticky mess' put me so far past the limit of my patience my grandchildren are still trying to peel off the bits & pieces of it where I ripped it all out and threw the whole mess out the back door.

This lining looks cute but smelled so toxic I would not use it for drawers with food, dishes, or clothes. Even after days of letting it off-gas, it still smelled.

This paper was very easy to line a shelf in my closet. The design is cute and was pretty easy to match up different sheets. Also I used only one roll to cover the top and bottom side of about 3 foot wide shelf. Nice product and I will likely order more for other areas of my home.
