This review is from: Self-Defense and Assault Prevention for Girls and Women (Paperback)
This is a good basic guide for anyone who desires to learn the basic principles of avoiding situations that could turn violent. It also covers techniques and tactics to use if you must defend yourself. Like all self-defense and martial art books, merely reading the book alone will give you important information, but in order to successfully defend yourself, one should combine this book with training under a competent self-defense instructor. This book shows various self-defense scenarios and how to counter the attacks. It also covers the basic blocking, striking and kicking techniques. In conclusion, this is a book for anyone who desires to learn the basic principles of safety and self-defense. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Persuader Defense Systems).

Effective basic self defense,
This review is from: Self-Defense and Assault Prevention for Girls and Women (Paperback)
This book is useful in teaching children some basic self defense techniques to defend against grade school, middle school bullying. If the situation demands more than this book covers, you might find a dojo that works with children in a considerate manner. A non-sport form where the children are neither picked on nor conditioned to violence seems best. Okinawan non-sport forms of karate may be suitable. Attend the dojo, and watch the classes for a while before you decide. Don't hesitate to quit and look further if you don't like the results. |
