Dr. Kuhn's work is a revealing journey into the process of self-transformation from the point of view of a spiritual coach. Her stories about her client's lives, and particularly where they get "hung up" while attempting to change these lives, are so genuine that I felt I knew each and every one of them. And I saw pieces of myself in many of them.

The exercises she recommends are worth doing and taking your time over. In fact, I now see that I read the book too quickly. I plan to re-read it slowly, one chapter per week, so I can better absorb what Dr. Kuhn is teaching.

The author is not trying to be a guru - she is trying to make us become our own gurus. This makes the book far more valuable to me than so many of the spiritual books written by self-proclaimed Awakened Beings. At the end of the day, I have to be my own teacher, my own guru, my own authentic self. Though it is often tempting to abdicate that role, when all is said and done, no one can take it over for me. That's what Self-Empowerment really is.

You can't help, but see yourself in the lucid examples and tender client sketches Dr. Kuhn shares with us throughout this compassionate and magical journey. Read it slow, take your time and answer the questions that have been forged and tempered in her heart's hearth through years of dedication to her clients and her personal journey to empowerment.

I experienced many things while reading this book: joy, grief, anger, confusion, delight and clarity to name a few. I was able to see my life and actions in a different light even though I am very familiar with the concepts with which Dr Kuhn works. This book shines a light literally into the delicious darkness and seldom visited recesses of our minds with laser like precision and the steady hand of a surgeon to reveal deftly, thoughts and ways of being that serve us no longer. This she does with a fierce compassion and the soul intention of reconnecting us with our essential self and our own power to choose.

If you are not ready and willing to change, don't read this book. If you read this book, you will have either to shift or buy a good eye mask, because you will not be able to turn off the light that Dr. Kuhn turns on. An amazing and transformative journey awaits you.

Self-Empowerment 101 is not a book to be read once and tossed. Put it on your bookcase and you will find your way back to it more than once.

Book is exceptionally user-friendly but don't be fooled, it is not elementary. Well-written in a style that makes the difficult task of understanding how "my way of being" contributes to how well my life is or isn't unfolding... much easier. The steady flow of well-timed questions allows the reader to gain traction and learn tools necessary to living a life of choice while negotiating occasional choppy water.

Recommend the book to my clients.

I ask myself what was valuable from this book, and the answer is all 184 pages! I literally highlighted over half of the pages. Each chapter presented me with a rich topic to explore for myself, and also prepared me to explore that subject with a coaching client.

Moreover, the coaching questions and practice areas at the end of each chapter are supportive and insight-giving as they help me (or my clients) nail down exactly what's true for me within each chapter's topic.

What makes this book genius is how accessible Dr. Kuhn makes the topics for the reader to grasp. Her personal and professional examples along with her personable writing style depicted each topic crystal clear.

I love how Dr. Kuhn distinguishes between making a choice and actually living into that choice. One of my many favorite quotes from the 1st chapter is, "You never find out who you truly are until you are willing to go for what you truly want. Anything and everything is possible."

Dr. Kuhn's book makes me want to seize every opportunity to live my life on the edge of my soul, strengthening the muscles of choice, discernment, and power as I joyously dance in the sea of the unknown. As she declares at the beginning of the book, "I propose that by reaching beyond your present level of perceived power, moving beyond your known strategies for getting by or getting through, you'll begin a life-altering journey, on in which you'll face yourself and all of your facades."

May it be.

While I am notably a collector of self-help books and most that I have only read once, Self-Empowerment 101 is a book I will refer to for years to come. It is not only the foundation of our coaching program at ITP and provides a good reference for topics when I need it, but I sense that it's words and their meaning will become more meaningful as my experience grows as a coach. I have peeled perhaps the first layer of insight from this book but what am I to understand after I have coached my first 100 clients or more? This book practices what it teaches. Transformation is about the client as well as the coach.

As I re-read this book what comes to mind is that perhaps what is truly happening is that Dr. Rosie Kuhn is guiding us through our lives in a way that the mind is gaining access and clarity to the often overlooked wisdom of the heart - found in the silence of Being. Through this doorway I have personally experienced many life changes of which I am grateful to her and her showing up with her unique work in the world. Thank you Dr. Rosie Kuhn!
