About the Author

Karl Perera has spent many years writing about and informing people of the importance of self esteem and self improvement. Just like you may have, he has experienced low self esteem, depression and lack of self confidence. Some years ago he decided to take that experience and the knowledge gained in overcoming these problems to build several self help websites that now attract thousands of visitors each day. Karl began his first website about self esteem in 1997 when the internet was in its infancy. Through hard work this website is one of the world’s top authority sites for those seeking help with their self esteem. He also created a website to offer information about another problem he suffered from (depression) and this is another of his pet projects. Karl has written numerous articles and e-books as well as developing two huge resources for help with low self esteem and depression. Karl is also an experienced teacher of English and has worked closely with young adults and older students of all ages and abilities. Karl Perera lives with his wife Elgiz part of the year in his native England and part of the year in Turkey. His family includes – Ebru and Daniel. Hobbies include sports such as windsurfing (the Aegean resort of Alacati is where you’ll find him when it’s windy) and snowboarding. In order to help those visiting his websites or reading his books he has recently developed a membership site called “Aspire to be You” which will allow continuous support and personal contact with Karl plus articles and more inspiring material to take you to the next level. Traveling has always been a big part of Karl’s life and to date he has lived in England, Australia, Italy and Turkey and there are few countries he has not visited.

More About the Author

"Tried and true Self help strategies that inspire you to improve your life and that of others."

I believe a self help book should be written by someone who has shared your problems and overcome them. Many self help gurus just rehash what others have written, without trying the strategies they promote. Karl's books offer you detailed steps that he has tried personally and that are proven to work.

Karl writes his books for those looking to improve their lives: people from all walks of life looking to overcome common life problems such as low self esteem and lack of confidence, depression and those needing inspiration and motivation. His writing is different from most other self help authors because it is written in a clear and personal way that is extremely easy to follow. Because Karl knows from personal experience the pain of low self esteem and depression, he is able to give realistic strategies and is honest in what he promises you.

In his spare time Karl lives with his family in England and Turkey, and enjoys windsurfing and snowboarding, travelling, reading, and bending the rules of several languages he speaks (Spanish, Italian and Turkish).

What a great read. There is so much out there to choose from but this simple book is a great reminder of what we can do to focus on ourselves and our achievements to keep our confidence up. I think it's quite a challenge to even admit that low confidence is affecting us or we are not feeling good about ourselves, denial is the first and most obvious response to even a whiff of this thought. But I was not getting the results I desired and said I wanted and I just had to work out why that was. I'd do loads of goal setting and writing and planning and even take loads of action but somehow things just wouldn't quite come off. I accept those things today as part of being human but the reminders in this book and the so simple little exercise in the last chapter has me remember every day what I have achieved, what I have done and how I feel about my achievements on a day to day basis. If you are not getting the results you want in your life and you have tried every other book out there and are wondering why, this could be your answer. It certainly helped me and has some great exercises to keep me focussed in my day to day.

Awesome, well done Karl!

Reading and applying Self Esteem Secrets helped me to define new answers to problems that were causing emotional pain in my life.
I am able to focus on solutions rather than staying stuck in the problem. I am thankful for being energized by the hope and restoration I am experiencing.

I recommend "Self Esteem Secrets" highly for anyone in emotional pain, anyone that has been disillusioned by life, anyone in hurtful situations, and anyone in pain from a relationship, to help you create the lovely picture for your life that you always believed in. This book helps the reader to become proactive in defining their values, and things that are meaningful to them that brings hope and a strengthened outlook on their life.

This would be a great tool for younger teens who need to insulate their heart with wisdom to understand how life may challenge them. This type of strength is needed by everyone.

If you are a strong individual and have weathered a few of life's storms, then this book will help you to renew, regain ground in order to go forward with a new sense of declaration, determination, and peace.

Thank you Karl,

Zsa Zsa

"Self-Esteem Secrets" is a great tool for those people wanting to develop their self-esteem and confidence.

It's short, easy to read and packed with useful advice and "how to" tools, that if used, will definitely help you to create a strong foundation of self-esteem and confidence.

Chapter one clearly defines "self-esteem" and the following chapters detail how to improve it, as well as giving you insights on how to deal with the impacts of daily living that may undermine you.

Karl's style is conversational and personal. He writes from his experiences with life - it's not just theory - he has lived it.

Throughout the book, there are very useful exercises and website links for further information.

I recommend "Self-Esteem Secrets" to you. It's a great read and will, most definitely, help you on your journey to be the person that you want to be.

Success and fulfillment in life are impossible unless there is first a foundation of self esteem. Perera's book provides a clear step-by-step approach to improving your self esteem or your feelings of worthiness. I found the chapter on ambition very helpful, having too much or too little, how this can lead to lack of purpose and feeling useless, which of course affects our self-esteem in a negative way. I enjoyed the chapters about work and jobs as well. This is a practical well-written guide that I think would really benefit someone with self esteem issues, especially if those issues were caused by extended unemployment or other factors that can lead one to a feelings of uselessness.

After reading the reviews before buying the book, I was really looking forward to reading it. I was disappointed when I began reading it, while laying in bed, because in order to get the most out of it, I had to be sitting next to a computer. In every chapter the author points to his website to get further information. Without going to the websites, which admittedly I didn't do, I really didn't get anything out of reading the book. I just didn't get the same enlightened feeling the other readers seemed to get.

I read this book during my travel and it was very comfortable and easy to read. Suggestions in the book reminded me of some important attitude that I should have in my daily life.Although I did not see any surprising new ideas, that was fine as they rather sounded natural and easy to understand. I recommend this to those who can not be confident in themselves and don't know how to start with. You can grab the idea of what "self esteem" is.
