This book was written by Virginia Satir to help a fifteen year old girl understand life. It demonstrates in a just a few words, what we could spend a lifetime trying to learn or explain.

Virginia Satir was a gift to this world. Self Esteem is a must read for adults and children alike. I pick it up from time to time as a reminder that I am doing the very best I can in this moment- no less, no more. It is the perfect gift for a young girl experiencing a rite of passage.

This author came very highly recommended to me by a friend who works as a psychotherapist; but none of Satir's books, including this one, were worth my time or money. The book is lovely, poetic, beautifully-illustrated, warm and fuzzy. But it is not my cup of tea. Satir seems, to me, more like astrology and homeopathy than psychiatry (Entertainent and Art but not Science). I prefer scientific, non-fictional, evidence-based, cutting-edge, facts. I gifted my copy of the book to a very young "tween-aged" niece for whom it seemed, to me, more appropriate. She felt it was more on the level of a kindergarden book. So we ultimately donated it to a local Sunday-school library.
