3.0 out of 5 stars I Love Half Of This Recording
I love the first 35 minutes of this recording where Louise Hay talks about physical health, but I hate the meditation. I've done it several times now. I know Louise would say this is my resistance, but I don't know. I think part of what I don't like about the meditation is that it feels like the talk and the meditation are from two different CD's. The talk is about...

5.0 out of 5 stars Forgiveness and joy, February 13, 2007
This review is from: Self-Healing (Audio CD)
On this helpful cassette CD, Louise Hay provides a powerful psychological tool for healing oneself. She explains the power of memory and emotion in the healing process; she talks about her own life, how she was abused as a child and how she overcame this trauma through the application of understanding and forgiveness. It also discusses the principles of personal transformation and contains a beautiful healing meditation that includes sections on how to forgive oneself and others, how to let go of negative thoughts and how to become the optimistic, joyful and created person that we were all meant to be. Hay has a powerful reassuring voice and her words exude confidence, insight and optimism. I highly recommend this CD to all who need psychological support in physical or mental healing. In my experience it has been most effective. Also listen to her tape Meditations For Personal Healing, a series of meditations that covers all the important aspects of life and Self-Esteem: Motivational Affirmations For Building Confidence and Recognizing Self-Worth.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOUISE'S AFFIRMATIONS AND CD'S REALLY WORK!, May 27, 2007

This review is from: Self-Healing (Audio CD)
Since 1988, I have listened to Louise on cassettes. In 2003, the cassettes wore out and I now am the proud owner of 21 of her CD's and several of Louise's books. Her personal story is inspiring to me. She teaches that your thoughts can be your best friend or your enemy! And how you can change a thought! For almost 20 years, Louise has been of great assistance to me in helping me get through some rough times and move on to a happier life. On this CD, she really explains how to heal yourself and this CD has been a big help to me!

3.0 out of 5 stars I Love Half Of This Recording, February 25, 2011
This review is from: Self-Healing (Audio CD)
I love the first 35 minutes of this recording where Louise Hay talks about physical health, but I hate the meditation. I've done it several times now. I know Louise would say this is my resistance, but I don't know. I think part of what I don't like about the meditation is that it feels like the talk and the meditation are from two different CD's. The talk is about physical healing, but the meditation seems to be about emotional healing. There is a lot about how terrible your childhood was (how can she generalize this to everyone?) and seeing yourself as a child and your parents as a child and loving them and then the person you resent the most and seeing good things happen to them. Also, the music is depressing. I love her soothing voice on Stress-Free, which I listen to every night before bed (You can sample the first half of this recording with a free download from Louise Hay's website), but her tone here seems so overdramatic. The meditation just has such a dark tone to it. It makes me feel worse, not better. The only time I don't feel this way is when I fall asleep before it begins.

I do really value the first 35 minute talk. Louise talks about how pain is often caused by guilt often hidden so deep beneath the surface we aren't aware of it. She also recommends doing affirmations in front of a mirror. She also has a great pillow anger exercise from her book You Can Heal Your Life. I think alternative health approaches like Louise Hay's books and CD's are a good source in addition to traditional western medicine when trying to heal from physical ailments.

Lastly, I would not recommend purchasing the audiobook version from Audible.com. Audible.com has put this 15 second obnoxious self-promotional advertisement at the beginning and end of the recording. It really ruins the mood for a meditation CD.

I love Louise Hay...I don't agree with everything she says...but she has one thing right...we all must think positive. I am not so sure that I chose my race or my parents...thats kind of far out there. But I do believe we all need to stop all negative thinking and we all need to open up and love ourselves and be open to receive the goodness of the world. She does have that right. Glad that I got this CD. Very Happy with it.
