It has been said that success leaves clues and a huge clue to a person's success is the books he or she reads. In the introduction of Self Help Books: The 101 Best Personal Development Classics, author Vic Johnson states it is these books that created his wealth and success.
Vic begins by recommending five books to start with and offers some advice to make reading a daily habit. The balance of this book includes a description of the major theme and a brief summary of each recommendation. Vic then concludes with an admonition to take action on what you have read. These great books will do nothing for you if all you do is read them. However, if these 101 books (actually 102,) were the only books you ever read, if you put their advice into action I believe your success would be guaranteed.
Browsing the Table of Contents, I see many books I know well, including As A Man Thinketh which was the first personal development book I read and it changed my life. I also see other familiar classics such as Wooden and books I have not yet had the pleasure of reading like You2 (You Squared.)
The wide diversity of topics under the personal development umbrella assures there will be at least a few gems for every reader in this reference manual. I recommend you purchase this book, then select a few mentioned within to purchase (some can be found for free,) and, finally, implement what you read.

No matter how successful you think you are ... there's always room for improvement ... Vic Johnson has put together a list of classic volumes, some I'm familiar with and some ... I'm happy to say ... I'll have to look for ... perhaps at Amazon ... my Kindle can always use more good news.

My introduction to personal growth books started over 25 years ago when I was given a copy of Zig Ziglar's "See You A The Top", and has continued to this day .... Every great truth in life is covered in this list of master works .... but you never know how the perspective of a certain author can make it live for you ... to the point of action and success .... Mr. Johnson is a man on a mission ... and we get a peek into his playbook.

Okay, one reviewer said they could gather the same information by just searching the internet. I've done a LOT of searching, and there are three titles I discovered in "The 101 Best Personal Development Classics" that I have NEVER heard of! Not gonna give it away, but they are books I will definitely get and read ASAP! The other thing I like about this little gem is the brief synopsis Vic gives about each book listed. A huge help to me. Thanks, Vic. I've been a fan for a long time. You never disappoint.

I clearly wasn't paying close enough attention when I bought this thing. Yes, it's only $.99, but I would still like a little more than some dude's reading list for my money. He writes a blurb for each book, but that's all you get. One guy's one-paragraph take on the book. I looked through the list of titles and saw a lot that I recognized as being quite old, and thought that they must be out of copyright, thus allowing for him to collect them into one volume for a very low price. This isn't the case. There's no actual wisdom here, just a list of places where you could go get some wisdom if you wanted. Go to Google, type in "best self help books" and you'll get this information for free. Spend your dollar on hula hoops and Charleston Chew or whatever you kids are into these days.

I purchased this on one of my famous 99 cent download sprees and was pleasantly surprised! Vic Johnson has beautifully compiled the best in the Personal Development literary genre. It's a short read, which is great because you'll be very anxious to get started on some of his recommendations. This guide saved me lots of time & money and I'm very happy to have stumbled upon it. Highly recommended download!

Vic Johnson has been inspiring and mentoring people for years. His new book is an excellent list of the key works in the self-development field. The introduction is quite revealing, showing his roots and giving a '5 top' list. The educated person reads quality books. Worth a read.

It is just what the title says, basically it is a list of 101 books with a small description of each with the authors opinion. It did recommend a some good books. So it is nice to have as a reference to find books.

This is not 101 of the best personal development classics, as the name implies. This is a list of the 101 best personal development classics according to the Vic Johnsons opinion. Mr Johnson did have the courtesy to write a short book essay on each title, and explain his logic for including the respective books on his list. In that sense, it is a valuable asset. However, the title is misleading.

I was impressed about the wide variety of development books, ranging from educational, relationship, and
personal strength. As some other readers made comment, some I have read, many I have not, but knowing how much I enjoyed the ones I did read looking forward to the ones I didn't. Also impressed with dates of publications of some, before self development on the forefront of publications. Looking forward to some great reads! Might have liked a bit more description of books is the only reason I am not giving it a 5 star rating..
